This is a waste of a thread. Why would we care what they say? They are pretty much equal to WCU right now except the only difference is that we get walk-ons with WCU offers and if UNCC offers but we just invite as walk-on the kid may go there since they are technically FBS. However, we proved this past year that we are light years ahead of them. I don't really care what UNCC thinks. I would only slightly care what GSU and Troy thinks since they are our equals right now. UNCC is a bottom dweller in a league that the SBC East put a beatdown on.

I don't know about light years. Sure, you are 85 years ahead of us. Well in football. Not in FBS football. But you made it, that is what counts, right? ;)

I'm just talking about in football we are far ahead. Yes, our program is much older but the talent is not even close right now as well. You only have 3 players in your starting lineup that I would have taken on our team this year (Nate Davis, Juwan Foggie, Alex Highsmith). I know you took what I said as being a jerk but I was just being frank. I don't read your board because I feel we should be focused on our program. Being worried about teams behind us won't make us better.

With that said, you could catch up and beat us in 2-3 years from now or we could be beating you by 30-50 a game. Anything could happen. My point is that right now Charlotte should be chasing us and trying to reach our level. Nobody at Charlotte should think their program is better than us right now. We are the type of program that Charlotte should want to be. Just like for us UCF or a mid-tier P5 program talent level is what we should try to be.

I will say though that I know you have fans who think that players in Charlotte will clearly pick you guys over us and you should already be at our level but if your fans came up to Boone and looked at our facilities I think you would see that you may have nice facilities you just don't have quite what we do yet. When you have facilities, talent, culture, good coaches, and tradition it is hard to catch that.

As long as you don't steal recruits from us and we beat you I hope you have good years. It would be great for the state to see every FBS program to go to a bowl in the same year and I sincerely hope that you do that in the next 3-4 years. I know you made a very good hire in your head coach. He could turn out to be way better than Drink or he could be a bust or Drink could go either way. We just don't know yet. We will see.

I always find it interesting how egos are tied to how well our football team performs on the field when we sit in the stands and watch.

I don't really understand the need to extract a few posts from delusional fans and behave as if EVERY Charlotte fan, or the institution as a whole, believes they are disrespecting us. I live in the Charlotte area and I just don't find that to be true at all. Also, Charlotte as the right to choose the program they want to emulate. Maybe that is App and maybe it's some other program. I couldn't possibly care less. They are trending positive. Other than when they play App, I hope they do well.

It really must be the off season. September can't get here fast enough. :-D

I agree with your post. I believe that 99% of the Charlotte fan base knows where the program stands. If we are smart App fans we won’t go on either Carolina board and spout nonsense. We should be very good next year and should beat both of the Carolina teams but by the same token we need to act like we earned a seat at the table and treat each opponent with the same degree of class. Karma is a crazy thing.

UNCC's fan base is so tiny that an anecdotal internet interaction is actual substantive evidence that Niner Nation as a whole is an imperious collection of too-weak-to-go-away-to-college douche bags who deserve nothing but scorn.

By App standards their record in 2018 was poor, but for a team in their state of development, 5 wins is pretty decent. Those wins included WKU, ODU, Florida Atlantic, and Southern Miss. None of those teams are at their peak, but those decent wins. Trying to paint Charlotte as the worst of FBS is probably no longer accurate. I just don't see any benefit in the snarky comments, so I have to assume folks do it because they enjoy it. Call it talking "smack" or whatever. Talking trash to an opponent (not really my thing but it's part of sports) should be done in the weeks leading up to an actual game and maybe for a week or so after. Too much trash talk after a beat down is pretty bad sportsmanship though.

The part I don't understand is seeking out any and every opportunity to belittle the institution (academics, student body, location....silly nicknames). It's just me though. Folks are entitled to do that stuff if they want, so I'm not "calling anybody out" but I don't understand the appeal.

The arrogance UNCC fans had when they announced they were starting football was quite the sight. That is the main reason for the backlash. Don't get me wrong neither side has taken the high road.

UNCC fans were misinformed and naive then and continue to be. I rode the blue line up to the game last year and had a nice discussion with what I came to find out was a member of their scholarship advisory board. We bonded over conversation of doing the best we could in the shadow of ACC/SEC programs and the excitement the move to FBS provided. Near the end of the trip he attempted to take a swipe at the SBC and our lack of TV revenue. I did have to point out the difference in the tv contract CUSA had when they entered versus the current one, which is at best on par with the SBC. He refused to believe me and seemed upset with that news. He seemed out of touch with the status of their program and how superior their conference was in his eyes. If someone that should be tied in to the school is that misinformed I can only imagine the general fanbase.
