Re: Lance Ware to ASU
It is my understanding that his role is not that of an on the field position coach.

Re: Lance Ware to ASU
it is odd that he would leave a solid HC job to take an off-field role. Not saying you are wrong, but it is a strange move.
If true, then who the hell are we hiring for RB and DL coaches?

Big jump from 2A HS ball to FBS though. Maybe he was ready for a new challenge and this is his foot in the door.

True. I thought he would at least be a coach in some capacity, it either way sounds like a solid dude and an App guy.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 9:31 amBig jump from 2A HS ball to FBS though. Maybe he was ready for a new challenge and this is his foot in the door.
Wasnt both Ledford and Ivey a HS HC when Satterfield hired them?

Re: Lance Ware to ASU
Don’t be fooled by Shelby’s 2A classification. Year in, year out they can beat the vast majority of 3A & 4A schools in the state. Still a big jump, but I think this is a great hire. GO APPS!!EastHallApp wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 9:31 amBig jump from 2A HS ball to FBS though. Maybe he was ready for a new challenge and this is his foot in the door.

I believe Ivey was a high school coach in FL but I think Ledford was at Gardner WebbThe Rock wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 11:03 amTrue. Re: Lance Ware to ASU
Judging by or assistant retention rate, Ware will be a coordinator by the 2019/20 Cotton Bowl.

Re: Lance Ware to ASU
Lance is one of the finest people I know. Great friend, family man, and incredible coach. His network within N.C. and surrounding states, as well as his work ethic will be a huge asset to Coach Drink and staff. As someone else noted, I wouldn’t be surprised if he has an on field coaching role for App very soon, though I’m sure Drink would hate to lose him as his right hand man. Incredible get for the program. He bleeds black and gold. Great hire Drink and co!

I'm in for bringing coaches up from high school, division II, III or FCS that have been successful, yet still have something to prove.
By all accounts, we actually did get Coach Eric Taylor.

Re: Lance Ware to ASU
I will say I don't know anything about Lance other than what I have read and know he is an Appalachian Man. But, I will say you gotta be doing something right to win 5 state championships in the last 6 years. That is very impressive. It also sounds like the folks that do know him on this board give him extremely high accolades for his character. I like having a guy like that on our staff. Clearly this is a move for Ware to get from HS to college coaching ranks. I look forward to his contribution and proud he is on our staff.

Coach Ware will certainly help with recruiting in NC. I expect he is well known and well thought of in the NC high school ranks.

Having someone like Coach Ware will help in not breaking what is not broken with Appalachian Football. I hope that having Lance Ware in the position he is in will act as a safety net when Drinkwitz leaves. I expect that he will take his quarterback with him just like he did at Boise State.

Let’s let the guy coach a spring practice before we start talking about him leaving and taking players.AppWyo wrote: ↑Mon Feb 18, 2019 1:41 pmHaving someone like Coach Ware will help in not breaking what is not broken with Appalachian Football.
