Re: Derrick Transfer
Don’t like it. I wish him the best. He is a gamer. Assuming he went to our 1st Spring practice today, WTH happened for a QB to quit?

He probably knew he would get just buried on the depth chart.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 25, 2019 6:58 pmDon’t like it. I wish him the best. He is a gamer. Assuming he went to our 1st Spring practice today, WTH happened for a QB to quit?
What exactly made him a gamer, that one throw in the Penn State game?

Re: Derrick Transfer
I get nervous with these new transfer rules. These guys come out for spring practice and see where they stack up against the competition. When the writing is on the wall they bolt for another option. Nothing wrong with that but with the new rules I think we are going to start seeing it occur more often. It will sure make things interesting.

Check out his tape and his stats and you will see the kid can play.ASU-FTW wrote: ↑Mon Feb 25, 2019 7:11 pmHe probably knew he would get just buried on the depth chart.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 25, 2019 6:58 pmDon’t like it. Re: Derrick Transfer
Never like to see guys transfer but Derrick didn’t have the arm talent. Huesman passed him up in the depth chart last year and he probably saw how high Drinkwitz is on David Baldwin. Hopefully he gets on a D2 team and does well. This will definitely help us due to the limited scholarships that we will have for the 2020 class.

Re: Derrick Transfer
I hate to see him go but I wish him the best. He will most likely land with an FCS program (not D2). I think Derrick is a solid QB and I hate that the GS went off the rails. Unfortunately, this is the new reality....and it's not even all that new. When I highly recruited athlete winds up getting stacked down on the depth chart, they transfer. I can't blame him. He wants to be out there playing and leading a team as QB. I wish him nothing but good fortune.

Re: Derrick Transfer
I can't tell if the people saying D2 really think he'll drop down that far or just somehow don't know the difference between FCS and D2.
He'll probably go FCS, but I wouldn't be shocked if he had some FBS interest.

Re: Derrick Transfer
It’s best all the way around,my opinion. He wants to play and I think there are plenty of places that would love to have him. I’ll follow his career and cheer him on.

Re: Derrick Transfer
Agree. It wasn’t that long ago we were getting offended (rightfully so) with people confusing FCS with D2.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Mon Feb 25, 2019 8:08 pmI can't tell if the people saying D2 really think he'll drop down that far or just somehow don't know the difference between FCS and D2.

He can go to a good FCS team and not lose eligibility. Hoping for the best for him

Re: Derrick Transfer
#14 Malik Williams could become the third choice at QB in case of emergency, assuming Baldwin is a definite red shirt. ( We could have one or two transfer coming to App before Aug. )

Re: Derrick Transfer
Where do you get that? We have 4 returning QBs...Thomas, Huesman, Gibbs, Wilson + 1 incoming Baldwin.

Re: Derrick Transfer
I would think Baldwin would have that role given that he can play 4 games and still RS.

Re: Derrick Transfer
I wish him the best. I agree buried in dept chart. But we have had an abundance of QB's in the last years. Love Zeb Spear/Tanner Wilson but scholarship would be better placed on OL or RB. With the addition of Baldwin; be real do we really need so many QB's. He would be happier starting at FCS and making more of a difference for the program. I think he's doing the best for himself and I'm proud of him.
