#14 Malik Williams becomes the third choice at QB in case of emergency, assuming Baldwin is a definite red shirt. ( We could have one or two transfer coming to App before Aug. )
Where do you get that? We have 4 returning QBs...Thomas, Huesman, Gibbs, Wilson + 1 incoming Baldwin.
Hell!!!!!!! D'Andrea Hicks was an outstanding QB in Fl

I would think Baldwin would have that role given that he can play 4 games and still RS.
I agree with you about Baldwin but if a stout Power 5 grad transfer QB comes along in May or June, I believe Drink will try to make room for him.

If we can find a capable grad transfer willing to come into a situation where the starter is already entrenched, then I’m sure we’d all love to have him. But those guys are usually looking for somewhere they can get on the field.

To be fair to Steelman, Malik has thrown as many TD's, has a higher completion percentage, and fewer interceptions than Derrick...

There is a big difference in taking regular snaps at QB versus a couple of double pass plays.

I think it’s safe to say that if we’re down to choosing between a slot receiver and a walk-on to be our regular QB, things are not looking great either way.

But we’ve got 3-4 legit QBs before we get to that point. Pretty much any team is going to be in trouble if they go deeper than that on their QB depth chart.

I mean nothing negative here, however, I still feel if Huesman went in after ZT's injury we probably would have squeaked by against The Stink. Anyway, that's history. Looking toward the fall, when The Stink comes up the mountain payback is going to be hell! That aside, I wish Derrick much success in his future endeavors.

I wish him the best and understand his situation. Probably the best for all parties.

I wish him the best. I agree buried in dept chart. But we have had an abundance of QB's in the last years. Love Zeb Spear/Tanner Wilson but scholarship would be better placed on OL or RB. With the addition of Baldwin; be real do we really need so many QB's. He would be happier starting at FCS and making more of a difference for the program. I think he's doing the best for himself and I'm proud of him.
Spier is gone and unless I'm mistaken or he's been awarded a scholly Wilson is a walk-on.

We've lost backup QBs to transfer before. This is no big deal.

I believe that we will be fine. There has to be at least one guy who will step up as the solid number 2. Hopefully we will have the ETSU game well in hand by the half and whoever that backup is can get meaningful snaps in the second half. The Stink game was a complete anomaly- short week, travel, rival game, good opponent, bad weather, backup forced into action with undoubtably little to no reps leading up to the game. Had the script been flipped we would have killed a similar opponent in Boone. Guys really need to let it go and stop the “what if’s”

I really wasn’t directing that at you Natty. Some guys ARE serious.

I believe we already have a solid #2 with Huesman, with Baldwin in the mix maybe he's the new #2 who knows. We are loaded at QB for sure.

I think everyone is forgetting about Gibbs. He was good enough to get a scholarship to UCLA. After a year in our program, he may be ready to contend for the #2 spot. You never know, Drink's system may fit him better that Huesman. I don't think we are hurting at the QB spot.

I wish him the best and believe there is a place where he can thrive and be successful. I hope he finds it. However, he had a chance on the big stage and couldn't get it done. Folks can make excuses all day long but the fact remains, if he had been able to take over the game (i.e. Tua for Alabama, Fromm for UGA) and win it then we would not be having this conversation. He didn't so his "in game" performance is what it is and he probably wasn't going to get another big chance with the other QB's on the depth chart. This is a lesson, when you get your big chance you have to nail it, no excuses.

I just don’t see a scenario where a P5 grad transfer wants to transfer down to the SBC only to sit on the bench for his 1 year behind a RS SR. As it stands now we’re fine at QB i suspect.

Gibbs was never on scholarship at UCLA. Isn’t on scholarship here either i don’t believe.

Baldwin will be number 2 by Week 1. Then you have Huesman. Not sure why so many of you are worried about this.
