Baldwin took over the starting job during Spring practice and has already declared for this year’s draft.

So you're saying that Zac's Heisman run is still on track?

Rekdiver, I'm actually with you on this. I wish I could get some actual information about Spring Practice from anyone actually "in the know."

Even though practices are closed does anyone watch from the hill on the visitor side?

Eric sits there and videos practice for DGB so that he is caught up and ready to be QB1 in August.

And for that we are all truly blessed. The jury is still out with this new staff. We need a resident expert to keep them straight.

It's a blessing. For real though, there has been no actual debate of the points I've made other than fundamentals and because Zac is just too good. No one has critiqued Baldwin or how either player fits in with what Drink likes to do.

That will be sorted out in the Fall, obviously.

But I wonder which is a more likely scenario: Zac winning the Heisman or Baldwin winning the starting job? Secondary survey: which opinion catches more flak?

Have you taken the time to watch any of the kids tape or other videos he is in? If not for this seeming sibling rivalry mentality around here, I'd say someone with an objective viewpoint can't argue that the talent is there. Many of you seem jaded from Stephon Brown but DGB is not him and if you bothered to do the research it would be easy enough to see.

The point to be taken is that App should be in a much better position at the QB position in 2019 than in 2018.

Come on, Eric. You're attempting to gain legitimacy by comparing your actual opinion (that Baldwin will win the starting job) to an obvious joke? You're embarrassing yourself.

Yes I watched his Highlight reel but sorry, I don't have any game tape lying around my house that shows off his incompletions and bad reads. Do you think that I was making up his flaws without seeing him play? I watched the highlight reel and have had discussions about it with people who are paid to analyze this sort of stuff. Having said that, I have watched the highlight reels of both Brown and DGB against high school players and can tell you the Brown was farther along in his abilities than DGB. No one is doubting the talent of DGB. He has potential but he is not Trevor Lawrence, a five star, can't miss recruit coming in here play. His game is simply not ready for the college level at this point. No one is jaded about Brown. His game was more ready for the college transition but his head wasn't and that is on him. No skin off my back. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. But when you come on here stating that a true freshmen is going to come in here and unseat the reigning OPOY in the conference, you are going to get questioned. When you, in your "objectivity", ignore the fact that he didn't even win the starting job on his high school team and was a backup to a kid that went to UAB, not Alabama or Auburn, but UAB is good enough to start here without seeing a complete game from him, you are going to get flamed. He has talent, but it isn't next level talent yet and if you put him on the field at the college level now, it is going to show.

Why do some guys constantly want to replace the quarterback? I realize that he is probably THE most important position on the field (duh), but at the same time it’s not always that easy. We have been blessed to have probably the best quarterbacks in our leagues for many years- AE, TL and now ZT. Like many I just hope our backups develop and are prepared to step in if needed.

Agreed Big Daddy. ZT exceeded all expectations and has earned the position. We have to be ready should he go down for sure, but there's no question who our QB is.

If you all can come up the mountain on March 30, let's show up and support the team at the last Spring practice. Let's show the team and new coaches we are ready for some App football!

The answer to BigDaddy’s question is simple. The most popular guy on any team is the backup. Until they step on the field and show people why they are the backup, they represent potential and they means more to some than the actual results of the starter. Rarely does a situation present itself at Alabama and Clemson where very good starters are replaced and the results are a better product. But that happened at a National Power and does not translate to most schools not National powers.
