The Nov. 23 game against Texas State will be Heroes Day on the Appalachian campus, recognizing military personnel, first responders and veterans with free admission to the game. As the final regular-season home game of the year, it will also be Senior Day.
App State previously announced the dates for the Hall of Fame and Jerry Moore celebrations (Aug. 31 vs. ETSU), Family Weekend (Sept. 28 vs. Coastal Carolina) and Homecoming (Oct. 19 vs. ULM). The Mountaineers also host regional rival Charlotte on Sept. 7.

I’m guessing this is our “big announcement”
If so... lol

This is a once-in-a-decade Halloween night game and instead of asking fans to wear costumes, you ask them to wear their black App gear.
Normally I'd be 100 percent pro-black App gear (I wore black to the whiteout), but not this game. This is different.

The parallels between this game and the 2008 Halloween game are scary similar. First and most obvious they are both week day night games at The Rock(nothing better) on Halloween. Second the opponent is a blood rival who beat us the year before following mammoth starts to the seasons (the hype in '07 and '18 was awesome). Third and finally our all everything sophmore QB left the game that we lost due to injury (some would say both were dirty plays, I'm not here to judge). All that said Halloween '08 at The Rock was INSANE!!!!! Praying Halloween 2019 at the Rock is at least half as awesome!

Found this video on youtube. Brings back fond memories. Check out the crowd and energy. Looking forward to Halloween this year too.

Doug Gillin follows me so maybe if we get a bunch of people voting for Halloween in the poll, they’ll reverse it?

I’m for Halloween Costumes for students. Yosef members could still wear black.
Should be another “Thriller”.

Why are some acting like Black Saturday works as a “color out”? I love the games on Black Saturday but there has never been a seamless sea of black (it’s just the nature of the color, which I love, don’t get me wrong). Wearing costumes isn’t going to mess anything up, but maybe making it “Black Thursday” will get the folks who don’t want to come up the mountain for a Thursday night prime time game on tv think twice about it. We’ve never exactly had a great crowd (by our stadards) for GaSo on Thursday night, sadly.

Black Saturday should be reserved for the biggest home game of the year. I do hope students and young kids wear Costumes however.

A while back someone said this game should be called the Black and Blue Bowl. I like that.
Black Saturday uh Thursday or not costumes will be the attire for the evening.

I had to miss this and the beat down of Wofford. Since it was moved to Friday night from Saturday I was working our football game. Needless to say that was an epic night if I did miss it. The back from Wofford may still be unconscious from that hit on our sideline!

And? Go back and look at pictures of any black Saturday. There’s a lot of black, but also lots of purples, yellows, blues, reds and all kinds of colors in the crowd (due to people wearing winter/fall jackets). Black saturday is more about a kickass atmosphere than creating an awe-inspiring visual like the Penn state white-out. That’s all I’m saying. Black is a much harder color to pull off for a uniform crowd look. No one will care if you wear a costume.

We should combine the two. If you attend either wear Black App Gear or since it's Halloween wear a costume. If you combine the two you can be entered into some sort of giveaway (doesn't have to cost the University anything e.g. Sideline passes).

Wear whatever you want, just be loud as hell and stay for the entire game.
