Breakout? Like they have not already established themselves to date?
Offense: Corey Sutton
Defense: Davis-Gaither
If they have not “broke out” already....
Offense: Cam Peoples or Virgil
Defense: any of these young secondary guys backfilling Duck, Hayes, Exford

Offense: Daetrich Harrington
Defense: Jordan Earle is a great pick. Since he has been taken, I am going with Nick Hampton and Brenden Harrington.

I also believe this is Virgil's breakout year. I never thought his full potential was reached during the Satterfield era. I think Drink's offense is better built for him and I can't wait to see that olympic speed in the open field.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 9:44 pmI’ll start it off with my picks.

Jordan Earle is a big dude. I think he has a chance to fill in where Stout left off. He'll be under appreciated to the casual fan because his stats won't jump out on paper, but he'll plug holes and create lanes for other guys to make plays.

DBG is a baller, but I don't see Zac losing the starting role. Not saying it's impossible, but highly unlikely.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 3:38 pmPeoples

Plus, both have already broken out but excited to see another year of Jordan Fehr & Akeem Davis-Gaither. Our LBs should be very good!

Coach Drink has been quoted a couple times already saying ...one thing that he a got from spring practice was how good Zac Thomas really is.Thomas will be our QB till he Graduates.WeirdAl wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 4:05 pmDBG is a baller, but I don't see Zac losing the starting role. Was Fehr not a breakout guy last season? You saw what happened against Southern once he left the game, right?

Re: Predict Your Breakout Player for the 2019 Season
I'm still not sure what's wrong with being excited about the guy. He's easily one of the best looking QB's, on tape, App has had commit in some time, if not ever. 6'4, can really spin the ball, the ball carries deep, he moves well, has good vision, and appears to be willing to work. I'd imagine that if he is as cerebral as the natural ability he has, everyone will be pleasantly surprised.'Black Saturday wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 3:38 pmPeoples

In otherwords, he appears to be an ideal QB for Drinks system when you compare him to Finley and Rypien; each of whom are in the NFL at this moment.
Perhaps it's just that i'm left handed? Who knows.

Re: Predict Your Breakout Player for the 2019 Season
Absolutely nothing wrong with being excited about DBG. He's the highest rated prospect we've ever had and has tremendous upside. I think he'll be the second string QB coming out of fall camp. I just don't think he belongs in the breakout category yet.ericsaid wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2019 10:37 amI'm still not sure what's wrong with being excited about the guy. In my opinion, the best option for DBG is to redshirt this upcoming season. He'll still be on the roster for every game and likely get a few reps, but hopefully not too many to waste away a year of eligibility.
I only see one scenario for him to be a legit offensive breakout candidate this year, and thats if ZT gets hurt early on and he comes in and is too good to put back on the bench.

I interpreted "Breakout" to mean someone who isn't already a household name like Sutton and Evans.

Re: Predict Your Breakout Player for the 2019 Season
Someone has already mentioned Jalen Virgil and I know he's been around for a couple of years but I think last year he was a bit under utilized. It will be interesting to see whether Coach Drink's philosophy will find a way to use that speed. We now have a proven QB with an arm and a coach who likes to air it out. If defenses realize they have to account for a speedster down field it could open up a ton of options for us.
