Re: Beer/Wine
I hear they will be selling crane rides in the North End Zone this year as well. Or you can go the cheap route and go up half as high on a scissor lift. Put a "skybox" on the boom of a JLG forklift and you have a view worth paying for. Those are just as likely to be sold in the NEZ for '19 as beer or wine. Construction zones make poor concession stands.

I'd guess, and it's purely a guess, that the beer garden last year was an indicator that if that bill passed, we'd probably sell inside stadium. I'm for it. I think it will significantly cut down on people sneaking "stuff" in and also people being removed from the stadium for having an obvious drink in their hand, which I have seen happen many, many times over the years. Also, any new revenue sources which can be generated I'm all for.

Totally agree. Some few fans will still sneak in hard liquor instead of paying high prices for beer.sixtoes9134 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 4:59 amI'd guess, and it's purely a guess, that the beer garden last year was an indicator that if that bill passed, we'd probably sell inside stadium. Re: Beer/Wine
Nothing is going to be sold until the Board of Trustees approves it. Since they are not scheduled to meet again until after the second home game of the year, it will require a special meeting. All this is discussed on another thread. Ethan Joyce wrote a very informative article in the WS Journal about it. He has proven to be a great resource for all things App. I think it will likely happen but there a lot of logistics to figure out to make it successful. If I understand it correctly, there will still be a permitting process to go through. Throwing this on top of the construction, I can see it being the proverbial monkey effin' a football for this season. It'll probably happen, but it may be ugly in the beginning.

Yes, Ethan's article was very informative. The way I read it was that a special meeting would happen and that all the logistics have been somewhat thought through.

Those that like ice in beer are those that sip beer with a straw.

Re: Beer/Wine
AMB, Booneshine and Lost Province all can their beer. The easiest way to implement beer sales last-minute is to just sell cans. Pouring drafts is a recipe for inefficiency and spills.
Let their staff set up tents under the East Side, West Side, and behind the scoreboard. The more the better to handle thousands of thirsty Mountaineers.

Re: Beer/Wine
“Few”? Hardly. If it makes a dent in liquor smuggling it will be slight. Once they start selling liquor inside the stadium that will impact it , but even that won’t eliminate it.NewApp wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 5:44 pmTotally agree. Re: Beer/Wine
I heard The Farmer's Wife Fried Pies will have the jazz cabbage ingreedeeant known as CeeBeeDee this year. Buncha filthy heathens.
Re: Beer/Wine
Yeah, I don't see pouring drafts being efficient at a stadium; these flimsy plastic cups are easy to drop or crush, which results in beer being spilled everywhere, and the bartenders sometimes need to switch the beer tanks that are used to pour drafts. On the other hands, cans are tougher and can be distributed in a much more efficient way, so why bother with drafts? Sure, beer is better this way, but if you want to appreciate your beer in optimal conditions, it's better to watch the game from a bar. You have to choose; either you prioritise beer, or the game. If you're going for the former, watch the game at a bar (or at home, you can buy small pressurised beer tanks and enjoy them with friends), and if you prefer the latter, then you can get canned beer at the stadium.

Re: Beer/Wine
App's board of Trustee's have yet to officially discuss and vote on what can be done yet with the sale of alcohol. So nothing really until then. But most likely something similar to last year with "the rock garten"

Re: Beer/Wine
Regardless of when, where, and how, there will be plenty of alcohol inside and out of the stadium. Always has and always will.

Re: Beer/Wine
If they haven't set a special meeting for this it will be hard to make happen before ETSU. If they do make it happen it will be a cluster-f. I'll be surprised if there is a "successful" day of alcohol sales in the stadium this year. While I'm for it, I don't expect it to be done well the first few times out.

Re: Beer/Wine
Living in Foothills territory, it seems every event whether it be music, fundraiser, etc., has a Foothills beer tent. They use kegs, CO2 cylinders and jockey boxes. We used jockey boxes at my daughter's wedding; the Boone Creek Blonde and Long Leaf IPA were nice and cold.
If the BOT gives the green light, it seems simple to contract with AMB or whomever for a percentage of sales.
