Let's all be honest with ourselves, anyone at App who says "we will be selling beer and wine at this year's football games" could easily make a contradicting statement next week. I'll believe it when I see it. I'm sure that they will have it outside the gates again in some way, but it's cheaper and easier to do a BYOB to tailgate. Feel free to quote me on this, but I will be absolutely shocked if this narrative doesn't shift back and forth from selling to not selling prior to the first home game. And I'd be willing to bet against the sale of alcohol inside the stadium to the general public. (yes I make this specific statement because it's always been sold on club level and it's available in suites based on the suite owner. ).

Just my opinion after watching how things have been over the last few years. Should we call them the....DG years...

If they haven't set a special meeting for this it will be hard to make happen before ETSU. If they do make it happen it will be a cluster-f. I'll be surprised if there is a "successful" day of alcohol sales in the stadium this year. While I'm for it, I don't expect it to be done well the first few times out.
Any extra dollar App can get out of booze sales is a success IMO, no matter the process. We’re already in the bottom half i believe in the SBC for the athletic budget, and other schools in the conference sell booze and make money from it. I know it won’t be a million dollar revenue stream but we can’t afford to fall any farther behind and here we have money being handed to us essentially. I hate falling further behind ECU, who has already OK’d the selling, than our conference mates TBH.

Regardless of when, where, and how, there will be plenty of alcohol inside and out of the stadium. Always has and always will.
This.
So, I hope the decision to sell beer etc in the stadium will be taken, because since people will drink alcohol anyways, it'd be better to make money out of it.

Both Texas St and Georgia St allowed it and it works. It’s another revenue stream as others have said being given to us. You just have to appropriately place the stands and staff them accordingly.

I'm entertained by the theory of "we're going to do it whether it's legal or not, so you might as well make it legal". Imagine if that's how our government worked...why can't people just follow the rules as they're set in place? I'm all for alcohol in the stands, but let's be adults about this and do it when allowed.

This could easily be a million dollar revenue stream over the course of a season. If we average 25k for our 6 games that is 150, 000. Just being conservative lets say only half those people purchase two beers a game (12 beers on the season) at $7 each , that would be $1,050,000. I can easily see that number being hit. Now, that isn't profit but I would also posit that I am using very conservative numbers just as an illustration to show how easily it would be to increase our revenue. I know that I would purchase more than 2 beers at the games I attend.

It might also help the idiots who leave at halftime to go drink, stay in the stadium.

Well there you go, looks like it will be a done deal. At to imagine that when a great number of posters on this board went to App it was a dry county and now they can buy alcohol in the Rock.

I don't think that assuming half of those in attendance would purchase 2 beers is exactly a "conservative" estimate for your revenue stream. I'm not opposed to selling beer at the games, and I have no basis for my "feel" but my feel is the percentage buying beer would be considerably lower than half. 8 - 10K of our attendance is students, many of whom wouldn't be old enough to purchase.

I imagine there are stats somewhere from stadiums that do sell beer.

Well considering it would be available at all the athletic venues, I think its definitely got possibilities for providing a nice additional source of revenue on an annual basis.

The Facebook comments on the WD article are already as delicious as an ice cold crispy boy served at KBS during a football game.

Unrelated-that is one of the best South Park episodes ever. Really shows you what an absolute madman Cartman really is.

Can't wait for the App games to begin to resemble the drunken ridiculousness of Carolina Panthers. I am so glad our children will learn what sports are all about.

I have season tickets to both teams and I’ve seen far more booze-fueled incidents at (then dry) KBS than I have at BOAS, not that I’ve seen too many at either. Evidence from other football stadiums suggest that legal beer sales cut down on alcohol-related issues. I do not anticipate a problem, at least not a new problem, if that’s your point of view about alcohol.

There’s studies out there that flatly contradict what you’re saying. Google.com

As long as it is a victimless "crime", that is exactly how our government should work.
