Good job ULL. When college football as a whole stops trying to squeeze every dollar out of fans as possible attendance will return.

Re: ULL $1 dogs $2 beer
I have been both TXST games the past 2 years and there are multiple beer stands outside the regular concession stands. It is only canned beers, there are 2 or 3 people working each stand and you're only allowed 2 beers per person per purchase. All this keeps the lines moving. Granted there is barely anyone at the TXST games so that also keeps the line short...
If we did it at KBS I would think it would be a similar set up and there would be at least 3 of these on each side with 1 or 2 at each end zone plus alcohol being sold at the regular concession stands.

I’ve never understood the excessive concession prices at sporting events. Obviously it’s to make money but it makes more sense to me to go for volume over margin on less sales. Selling bottled water for $2 still reaps huge profits considering how cheap a case costs. Pizza chains must understand the concept. Even today you can buy medium size pies for $5. I know that my family would buy more concessions if the individual prices were lower. Beer for $2 a can would be awesome and the profits would be great- just limit the number per person to reduce issues.

Re: ULL $1 dogs $2 beer
I work in this realm: I try to push schools and event venues to offer incentives to buy more. Prices have inflated so much, people would rather not even visit a concession stand. If you can get people to the counter and then upsell them or sell more, that’s how you make real money. Take Carowinds for example, they offer “buy more, save more” 2/$4 waters when one costs 2.99 or more....they do this with all of their bottled beverages. You shouldn’t focus on margins when volume dollars is what you really want. $2.00 bottled drinks, $3.00 beers, $3.00 energy, $2.00 hotdogs etc would yield high volume and still good margins. The Atlanta Falcons and some of these theme parks and arenas that have gotten creative with “deals” and lower costs are really yielding strong results. Others will be soon to follow once data becomes more readily available to the industry. What sucks is that App State concessions is in house, so they may lag behind depending on who is calling the shots.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 9:56 amI’ve never understood the excessive concession prices at sporting events. Sure, because people like Arthur Blank are idiots:
"despite lowering their food and beverage prices to the lowest in all of major professional American sports, fans actually spent more."
"the Falcons recently finished No. 1 among all NFL teams in food quality, price to value ratio, speed of service and variety."
"Not only did the team make more money by lowering the prices, but the move also led to a domino effect for the entire game-day experience."
"Because fans weren't deterred by the concession prices, on average, 6,000 more fans walked through the gates two hours before the game"

Go to the Masters Tournament sometime and you will be shocked.
The Masters menu features traditional items such as pimento cheese sandwiches, Georgia pecan caramel popcorn and bottled water, ranging in price from a high of $5 to a low of just $1. In fact, fans could buy one of every item on the menu for less than $60. By comparison, NFL fans pay an average of $8.17 per beer and $5.23 per hot dog at regular-season games, according to a 2018 study by Team Marketing Report.

When people feel like they're getting value for their money they'll spend more money.
When people feel like they're getting ripped off they don't come back.

People who feel they’re getting value for their dollar are also more likely to give.

Anybody with kids will tell you 1 game can be north of a $250 trip x 6 home games is $1,500. That right there is why people only come to 1 game a season. Solid Wi-Fi is nice and all but if you can't provide value fans will stay home, then what does your expensive concessions, t shirts and tickets do for you? 0.

Went to the ULL game two years ago and they were selling draft beer. It was their own brand brewed on campus...maybe? There were no lines; but then again, it was a Tuesday night! The beer was good.

Re: ULL $1 dogs $2 beer
We have a new minor league baseball team this year in a new stadium. It’s absolutely a great experience, lots of fun and the stadium is awesome but the concessions are ridiculous. Beer prices rival a major league team and the food is way overpriced. Granted they might have $2 hot dogs one night but otherwise it’s crazy. It’s still new so folks pay but eventually the newness will wear off and the attendance will dwindle. Cheaper concessions will work. Volume and continued butts in the seats.

I went to a Charlotte basketball game at A&T years ago and with about 10 minutes left in the game they announced hot dogs were $0.50 while they lasted. The arena almost emptied except for us puzzled Niners. The lady sitting next to me and came back with probably 1 dozen in her purse. I bet I know what her family was having for dinner the next night. We won the game, they won the hot dog lottery!

One of the churches on King Street gives away free hot dogs and canned soft drinks on game days. No limit and nice people to boot.
