Easiest Schedule in FBS in 2019

Unread post by BUTCH1991 » Tue Jul 02, 2019 3:47 pm

I just find it hard to believe we have the easiest schedule in all of of FBS football this year. I know Charlotte is on the schedule, but at SC & NC should keep us above the bottom, especially since SC is considered to have the toughest schedule in FBS.

Easiest: Appalachian State (#129)

Appalachian State’s bid to claim its third-consecutive Sun Belt title will be less arduous with the second-easiest schedule in the entire FBS. While the Mountaineers do get roadies at North Carolina and South Carolina, they also draw Texas State and South Alabama from the West, the two teams predicted to finish at the bottom of the division.

You'd be correct, since that article says UAB [#130] has the easiest schedule in FBS this year ;)

We have the easiest schedule in the SBC because we dont have to play App State.

I have a hard time disagreeing. The conference competition is garbage, and we'll go undefeated in all games. I view this as a tip of the cap.

A win at UL will not be easy this year.

We travel to both Troy and UL. That's hardly easy. Four of our 5 toughest games are on the road. Frankly, it will be difficult to match last year's record. We certainly have the talent to do so but it won't be easy.

Damnitt Hap! You stop being a realist and get on board with everyone else. Just kidding. I agree Troy on the road on a short week and a midweek tilt at ULL are no gimmes. I’m also not convinced of our chances at the Carolinas yet.

Biggest trap game will be Coastal, if we get past UNC-Cheats.

I'm going to go on the record and say that I find it hard to believe that we have the 3rd easiest schedule in all of FBS.

I'd almost want to win at UNC and turnaround to lose against Coastal just to make UNC look bad.

Admittedly I haven’t studied anyone else’s schedule, but surely there are some teams in the West who get to play that entire division and miss one or more of the heavyweights from the East?

With our schedule being called a top 5 easy, it'll be hard to gain national respect even if we win all our games. I can just hear the naysayers now. "they are undefeated, but look at Appy's schedule, they beat East Tennessee and Charlotte, and only 3 teams on their schedule were above .500, hell no they should not be in the mix for a New Year's 6 Bowl."

How does the song go? "We gotta get oughta this place, if it's the last thing we ever do"

The truth is that nobody knows how tough a schedule is looking forward; only when you look back. Cheat’s 2019 season will be much stronger than 2018; USC could finally meet expectations, and in the weak CUSA, even NC-Charlotte  could sneak a bowl invite. I could see ETSU making quarters in FCS playoff.Troy, Stink, and UL are potentially better than most of CUSA and MAC.
If the over/under on conference losses is one, what do you say? IMHO, I think two conference losses are as likely as zero. Play them one at a time. Beat ETSU.

A 13-0 SBC Team after being ranked 26th last year, and two P5 wins gets the access bowl slot over an 11-1 AAC team.

We need to run the table and “Leave No Doubt” as Dabo would say. Then you control most of your own destiny. That would be a very compelling argument.
