Go Navy
QBU welcomes Navy Shuler, son of Heath Shuler. The present is great and the future isn’t looking too shabby either.

Re: Go Navy
I don’t mean to be a Debby Downer, but he is a rising senior who has already gotten interest from 11 D1 schools, including App. If he has a big senior season, I would not be surprised to see some legit P5 teams give him offers, especially with his pedigree.
I love this news, and hope he plays for us, but I’m a pessimist when it comes to sports. I doubt he ever plays for App State.

Re: Go Navy
I don't consider your comments to be negative. This is a real possibility with anyone until the ink dries. I know that Drink has built a strong relationship with both Shulers, but these situations are ever evolving and I am sure that his parents want what is best for him. I understand that we all love App, but if the OG QB guru makes an offer to you and it is a committable offer, I am going to want my son to get a Duke degree over an App degree.MrCraig wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 7:35 amI don’t mean to be a Debby Downer, but he is a rising senior who has already gotten interest from 11 D1 schools, including App. If he has a big senior season, I would not be surprised to see some legit P5 teams give him offers, especially with his pedigree.

Was Coach Cutcliffe Heath Shuler's QB Coach?
I am with you. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

I know the family , they don't take commitments lightly. We are more than half way there on Navy.

Re: Go Navy
I would hope that they do and I am sure that the coaches expect that as well. But there are too many of these situations that have been played out in the manner that we are speaking to not understand that it could happen. No one is trying to comment on the character of the Shuler's at all. Just simply saying that nothing is for certain until the ink is dry on the NLI.

Re: Go Navy
Navy and his family have JUST COMMITTED to App State! We should be welcoming them with open arms yet some of you have to post your doom and gloom about whether he is fully committed!?! If you feel the need to express your crystal ball information, please take it to PM or The Moose lodge. Do y’all seriously think that Navy and his family are not going to see your comments on the Main Page??? SMH

Re: Go Navy
I don’t see him committing to App to use us as a fallback. No reason to jump that quick unless you mean it.

Re: Go Navy
Drink is proving to be one heck of a recruiter. Looking forward to seeing the QB battle over the next couple of seasons!

Re: Go Navy
One of the knocks on Drink, allegedly, was his recruiting. As with DGB, it appears his reach and ability to message properly will hook guys. These types require that 5 hour fight you experience against a big blue out in the big blue (tuna or marlin). He will have to hang on until Early Signing Period but I'm beginning to thing that the confidence Drink exudes in conjunction with App State's prospect of becoming known as the next Boise State (if and when we finally get over the P5 hump), of which Drink was a part, is enough allure for him to nab some top G5, developmental P5 players.MrCraig wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 7:35 amI don’t mean to be a Debby Downer, but he is a rising senior who has already gotten interest from 11 D1 schools, including App. If he has a big senior season, I would not be surprised to see some legit P5 teams give him offers, especially with his pedigree.

Re: Go Navy
Where has Drink developed this reputation that recruiting is a shortcoming? All reports that I have seen would suggest the opposite.

Re: Go Navy
This is what I've seen. Recruiting was one of his best strengths.
