I don't see the building being ready for the 2020 season opener.
I agree. But looks like they did something for the first time in weeks. They dug some holes today....
Must be Marines....they filling the holes back up.

So........ if there is not a tenant for the building how are they going to retire the giant loan they took out?

On the flip side western grad and I were taking about their p3 dorms. They have rental space for restaurants/ a tap room in their dorms as tenants to cover the retirement of the debt/ revenue. The only thing I could see that wouldn’t work at app is that it would break the monopoly food service has on campus and they wouldn’t be big fans of that. Oddly I think we are one of the few schools where our food service is a a school owned company and not contracted company.
Don’t we have Chic-fil-a and McAllister’s?

I’m about 90% sure they are franchises owned and operated by Appalachian

Not a single outdoor track meet in Boone this past season. I would expect a similar schedule this coming year.
As of right now, the team will not have a full practice or competition until 2021 at the earliest.

The original plan was to work on the track first, then tennis and then softball. The track because of NEZP, then Tennis for addition tower parking for Athletics and $$$$$$$$$$$$ Yosef, and then the softball to expand Sofield. Then sometime around April, someone came up with funds/donation to get started on Sofield, so Softball, who currently has a field, jumped to the top of the list. The track will happen:
Katers said the tennis and track and field facilities will be built as part of phase two “when funding allows.”
The track will happen when?
I think the track would look great with the new endzone facility in the background. Putting the track in the stadium would really highlight that program at Appalachian
Glad to see I'm not the only one who heard this ground breaking news. This part of the project is towards the end, right before the addition of soccer and field hockey lines. Letterhead style endzones, if the budget permits. Also, the band will be on the hill in efforts to project the noise to the new facility.
I also think we should update the sound system in the stadium so that we can play more music in the stadium. It would really help to enhance the fan game day experience. Other schools promote their well know alumni and I think it would be cool to have Eric church do something with the pregame video to really pump up the crowd

To be fair, there are only speakers on one end of the stadium. I think they're in the jumbo-tron. There's no happy medium between blasting the hill and having good sound on the other end of the stadium. They should put smaller speakers above certain sections to balance it out, but there's no telling what cost that comes at and it's definitely not an expense that you can get a sponsor to cover. Pure expense. Probably not quite worth it at this point.

Too bad it's not oil...then we could pay for everything, and more, up front. Just kidding, of course.

They just finished 2 weeks of underground supports (aggregate piers). Seems like they should be ready to roll now. It will be disappointing if things don't start moving quickly now for sure.

Must be having a VIP meeting in the command trailer this morning. At least 6 vehicles and no one in sight.

Any word on if the track is being covered by the start of the season? I know it’s probably low on the list of priorities but I was just curious.

I don't think there's an official word. But no way. Not at least until the foundation is established for the NEZ.
