Pretty sure I heard at the Yosef Spring Tour event in Greensboro that the track would still be there for this season. Seems to make sense to leave it until you're ready to apply the finishing touches to the field once the new facility is completed.GregPercussion wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 10:00 amI don't think there's an official word. What we were told in the Spring is irrelevant by now. That info probably changed less than a week after it was shared.Rick83 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 10:37 amPretty sure I heard at the Yosef Spring Tour event in Greensboro that the track would still be there for this season. I’m surprised...and disturbed to see so much wood in the new dorm. I had anticipated reinforced concrete floors and skeleton.

Checking out the Choat e construction cam Total jobsite view, wondering how it is possible to hold an outdoor "closed" practice. You could probably watch the game from the new parking deck.

Care to elaborate on your thoughts on the open-endedness of KBS? The bigger point of my generalization is there is very little privacy as new schemes are being implemented. Not being paranoid, just stating a fact.

You get a much better view from jack branch drive heading up to the athletics center haha. If I remember correctly there were people from va tech up on that road years ago before that game.

Re: North End Zone Construction
I hope there are severe financial penalties (fines) built into the contract. There are reasonable excuses to be delayed, especially given weather potential in Boone during the winter, but there are parts of this building that need to be functional by start of 2020 season. If they aren't, the fines should be thousands of dollars per day. This isn't a volunteer Habitat house.smokeshow wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2019 9:07 pmHere's my two cents whether you want it or not. I'm an App grade who got a BS in Building Science. Have worked for a couple different GCs in the state and now am director of construction at a mid sized college in the state. This process is a shat show bc it got turned into a public deal when the university left Shelco and went with DPR.
It was a public bid but DPR was the pick from beginning. They were chosen because they came in with some mind boggling low numbers after purchasing a precast plant I believe. Sounds like the numbers weren't as real. This is should have been far past what stage it is now. Our university had to fast forward a few big projects this past year and started after this and have blown by it. And we currently are doing over 250 million in construction I'm really interested to see how DPR will make final dates.

Let other teams workout in it. Most of the other teams were still using Owens.
That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

Re: North End Zone Construction
Really hope that is not what the final product looks like. The back side of the endzone building looks decent enough, but the field facing side looks awful and that gap in the seats down to the field is terrible.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 6:58 amTime to get on with it.

Re: North End Zone Construction
There are likely to be wall sized windows facing the field from the weight room, similar to what ECU has. With lighting and other "beautification" outside the building thats not shown in the rendition, it should look fine.ComebackShack wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 10:01 amReally hope that is not what the final product looks like. I had the same reaction. Maybe it's some temp support/brace technique until the metal and concrete can be staged. Count me as presently unimpressed!

I remember going over to that department Sophomore year and looking into switching my major from history to Building Science. Twenty years later, I still wish I did.

So am I. I wonder if they will last as long as the dorms they are replacing ?

Most of the new apartments I see being built in Charlotte are also wood.
