Anyone have any idea why it is taking so long to start on the North End Zone? Looks like the space has been ready for a while now.

At least 2 parts of the project still haven't been bid out as of yet.

That's a little odd. RFPs take time, even once bids are awarded, there are still contracts to negotiate and other hoops to jump through. I would have thought these bids would have been done months and months ago. I was hoping to see measurable progress this year, but with bids still outstanding that's not likely.

I understand there is significant sub surface prep work, updates and inspections occurring. The drainage system was and is huge with walkable/big city sewer size pipes 30-35’ deep in places. Electric, phone, cabling, etc being placed and updated. It is all under the massive new building(s) where Owens was small enough for most of it to be run around it. I can’t ever remember any flooding issues around stadium drive and duck pond even with all the paved surfaces, turf drainage and buildings. There would be a lot of water from broyhill area and stadium in the holler in some of these big rain storms. Once affirmed the site can handle the plans bids will be completed. 95% sure it will.

The speed of government is no surprise, but the lack of progress is very frustrating. I don’t expect to see anything actually built until after the 2019 season.

Should have gone with Shelco ffom the original design and price. If it was too much work with orginal GC to bring it in range and send them off. They did such a good job on the last one. Now we get a big national company who really doesn't care. Definitely huge delays here kn my opinion. This is coming from a PM in commercial construction.

Totally agree. These issues should have been taken care of from the start of demolishing. No reason not to have construction on the North end-zone at same time... Currently appears to be the gravel garden of the project.

“Over the next four weeks, according to Forte’s June 21 presentation, the project would complete utility work and prepare for vertical construction.”

It’s been about three weeks since June 21. Anyone seen “utility work” happening for the new field house?

This should answer some questions.
A decent update. At least they're giving some answers.

It did mention they are working to get parts of the building under budget. Figured that could be a hold up here.

Is this steel erected or concrete? Anyone who is panelizing this in steel will save a lot of time. As with the parking deck it would be built off site, shipped on a truck, and flown into place by crane, making the vertical process move much faster. But I've got no idea what this project was designed with...

Do we have any design updates for the NEZ? Is it still supposed to look like this? I'd really, really like to see some alternative designs that look more classic, less """modern.""""
