What's the difference between this title and Shawn Clark's assistant head coach title?

According to Ethan Joyce, it’s possible he was given the title/raise in order to keep him away or reward him for staying away from the Stink

I don't know the answer to this, but my guess is that they're similar, and the slightly different titles exist only as a way to give multiple coaches the pay bump.

Associate HC is a step above assistant coach. More money, more responsibility, and gives your best assistant recognition for being the best. There will not always be an Assoc HC on staff. Typically this positions that coach better for their next step to lead their own program, so you are probably going to lose that assistant regardless of what you call them in the not too distant future.

That's actually reversed from what I've seen when I googled the discussion at other schools. Assistant HC is generally considered to be slightly higher in that the role includes performing the HC duties in his absence whereas the Associate HC is largely a designation for recognition / pay justification. It's true that when talking about professors the associate is higher than the assistant. Honestly, I'm not sure there is any firm rule when it comes to the relationship in college football.

Of course it’s reversed from what you’ve seen. Did you expect a UNCC fan to actually know what they’re talking about when it comes to football?

In academia, an Associate Professor is a higher rank than an Assistant Professor. I would imagine that would be the case with coaches too.

You say "controller" with your fists balled up. You say "comptroller" with your eyeglasses on and your hair combed and your posture good.
