We haven't had a lot of success to date in the 2020 class with OL recruiting.

Yeah, I know. So far it seems we're heaving on athletes, LBs and WRs but it's early.

Re: Official Fall Camp thread
On paper it doesn't look bad, but you have to factor in success rate. Not all of them will work out and this list is too small so the margin of error is tight. Go back and look at what we have lost through injury and transfer and you will see what I mean.

Re: Official Fall Camp thread
I remember seeing tape on one of those 3 freshmen, can't remember which one, but he was big, fast and mowing down some linebackers down field.

Re: Official Fall Camp thread
Is it possible that the transfer from UT was brought on after the injury to fill depth?

Not sure if you're specifically referring to the OL, but Willie Edwards from ISU looks like he could come in and start. Dude is impressive on tape and I can see why Cheese recruited him here.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 7:33 pmAs East said, they keep their scholarships. They transfer over to medical scholarships and do not count toward the 85 limit. To answer the other question about grad transfer. You aren't going to find a transfer that will come in and start. They would more than likely come in for depth and emergency duty to preserve the RS status for the 3 new OL.

Depth is what he was coming for, most have said he isn't the best if he has to play though.

He has a chip on his shoulder and was a walk-on at UT. Like Thomas said over the summer, new coaching staff and everyone is fighting for a position. Competition level has been raised.

Also, possible that he is a better fit for our blocking scheme than Tennessee's. Some of our guys that have been great, may not have been successful at other programs because of the blocking scheme.ericsaid wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2019 10:29 amHe has a chip on his shoulder and was a walk-on at UT. Have to remember that the scheme is changing as well. It's going to be an adjustment for everyone. Some of the guys lower on the chart may be better fits for the new system? Much ado about nothing at this point.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2019 1:12 pmAlso, possible that he is a better fit for our blocking scheme than Tennessee's. Man those are some highlights. I agree. Last guy I recall saying ooh and aah after a highlight watch was Cam Peoples. I obviously enjoyed DBG's highlights from IMG and California but Edwards looks the part. Depending on how fast he picks things up, could be looking at a starting job on Week 1.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2019 2:13 pmMan those are some highlights. I agree. Think about how many O linemen we’ve had in the last 4 years or so who have made it onto NFL rosters and you’ll understand the recent success of our offense. Not saying the glamor guys had nothing to do with it but we’ve been blessed with some really good guys on that front line.

The scheme up front is not changing. Same OL coach from last year that learned the scheme from the formerericsaid wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2019 1:39 pmHave to remember that the scheme is changing as well.
