Yes. Gotta earn the votes. Win and we will be Top 25 at some point this season. After it happens, KEEP WINNING.

I don’t know if I’d go so far as to say it’s unfair, but considering we finished last year just outside the top 25 in that same poll and return a bunch of starters, it’s a reminder of just how much the scales are tilted against G5s.

Dropped 20 spots in the off-season. Yeah seems low, but just win it will take care of itself.

New Coaching Staff & Key losses at CB may be contributing factors for Coaches Poll. Let's win and EARN their respect!!!

I think it's disrespect...but I kind of like our guys entering the season with a chip on their shoulders. Let the world underestimate our team...and then see what happens on the field.

I am glad we are at least on the radar. I cannot dispute anyone taking a wait and see attitude with a new coaching staff relative to our ranking. I wonder how we would have landed if Satt and Co were still here? I don't think we would have landed in the top 25, historically we lose ground in preseason polls relative to last poll from previous year so I would figure we probably land in the 30's instead of 48. In my opinion, there are a lot of teams thrown into that overall list that I question should be there or where there are.

Army got 91 votes, much more “respect” than we did.

As far as saying we have to “earn” our votes, it’s a new year, etc., my point was just that it’s a new year for everyone. Nebraska is barely outside the top 25 after going 4-8. VT got 64 votes after a 6-7 season and a bunch of transfers. Guess “earning respect” doesn’t apply to them.

Nebraska should be better and was trending upward. Can’t explain the VT votes. But P5s do get the benefit of the doubt in these things.

Very fair, and P5's deservedly get more respect in these polls most of the time. Everyone needs to keep in mind we haven't beaten any of these P5's since 2007. Yes, we should have. At least 3 times that I can think of in recent memory (Wake, Tennessee, Penn State), but the fact is we haven't won any of them. As others have said, win and the votes will take care of themselves.

We're at least on the radar. Winning will take care of things in the long run.

As much as I’d like to have seen us start out ranked, and I believe we should have been, it still is a rush to see our name mentioned along with (and above) some of the legendary names in college football.

Really a dumb ranking. Does anyone really think that coaches have analyzed the App State roster and made the determination that since Clifton Duck left early our defense will drop off and subsequently we won’t be as good? For that matter how many coaches really put in the effort to truly rank teams who haven’t played a down? In my opinion a team that finished the prior year as a legit top 35 or so and returns a huge number of starters should automatically be preseason near the same number.

Wonder how much higher we’d be if we’d snuck into the final poll last year instead of just missing? You know a lot of the SIDs who fill out the ballots must at least use last year’s rankings as a starting point.

Wonder how much higher we'd been last year and started out '19 if we didn't have the misfortune of our QB getting KO'd on the third play in GnatSboroU or had the fortune of having an effective backup?

There were lots of teams ahead in the rankings that lost after APP and we won out.

Penn State have and they ended up 11th with 4 losses?
