Figured I’d stick this here. They rank App 25th and say if the transition to Eli goes smoothly we will be in NY6 contention.

I resent a g5 ranking.................and the efforts to create a new "tier 2" divisionNattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 12:30 pmhttps://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/n ... 770477001/

As far as I'm concerned, we're 41 in the nation according to the AP Poll and 48 in the nation according to the Coaches Poll. Hopefully it'll be top 25 halfway through the season.Rekdiver wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 11:26 amI resent a g5 ranking.................and the efforts to create a new "tier 2" divisionNattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 12:30 pmhttps://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/n ... 770477001/

Having written the G5 rankings column for this site for a couple years, I enjoy them. Especially because there's a specific prize for the #1 team. I don't think of these rankings as creating a "tier 2," I think of it as ranking the race for the NY6. (Which is why Army shouldn't be included, but that's another topic.)Rekdiver wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 11:26 amI resent a g5 ranking.................and the efforts to create a new "tier 2" divisionNattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 12:30 pmhttps://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/n ... 770477001/

Re: No. 4 G5 team USA Today
Curious, what is the difference in APP and Army? We are basically second tier or what ever they don't want to call us, like it or not. In the current climate of college football, they may even be in a third tier. Being G5, is having absolutely no chance at getting invited to play for national championship, which is less than a P5 that has the means to develop a program and recruit, "pay", and sign the top players to keep the cycle rolling. Even the best P5 ...see Alabama, Clemsom, Georgia, and about 2 more..have the only real chance. There are no Cinderellas in the P5 being that any surprise entry would have to beat 2 semi pro teams in consecutive weeks. Currently the talent pool is so top heavily skewed in favor of the same teams we see playing for the trophy in January.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 12:14 pmHaving written the G5 rankings column for this site for a couple years, I enjoy them. Army is an independent and only conference champions are considered for the NY6 bowl.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 12:56 pmCurious, what is the difference in APP and Army? Re: No. 4 G5 team USA Today
APP will need to blast everyone on the schedule to have a chance. I mean real style points. Start out 75-0 over ETSU and keep it rolling. Getting conservative and taking the foot of the gas and having mercy wont get it done, along with hoping one that started ahead of you loses. Now the South Carolina game may become a play in game for a NY6? Lose to them late in the season and we are going to Shreveport.

FYI, the AP preseason poll was released today. It had us getting 5 votes or unofficially #41 for whatever it is worth.

We’re getting some really good ink. Hope the guys don’t buy the hype and the coaching staff doesn’t feel too much pressure. Keep that chip on the shoulder and keep it lose in the locker room.
