Perfect Scenario Brewing for Tarheel Game

Unread post by Rick83 » Mon Sep 09, 2019 7:56 am

Carolina has won 2 games over bad teams in come-from-behind desperation fashion. If they beat Wake this Friday they're going to have their sights set on Clemson, whom they play the weekend after us. Wake is very beatable IMO and will boost the Tarheel players' egos big time if they go 3-0.

Quoting the article, "As the team ran off the field, students chanted “We want Clemson!”."

The Heels won't be blown away by looking at our game film from our first two games. So, this could be a perfect trap game situation for us to benefit from. Mack Brown is experienced enough to realize this but convincing his players is another story...

We've got 2 weeks to right the ship and I have full confidence that it will be righted.

Bad teams? Maybe at the p5 level , but teams that recruit at a much higher level ,have nearly unlimited $$$ and athletes we can't get .But I do think it is playing out in our favor...

Ok, maybe Miami and USC aren't "bad" but they're not playing great so far. South Carolina did route Charleston Southern this past weekend. I hope the Tarheel players hear all week how great they are, especially if they beat Wake in the same fashion this week. They will be much better in their own minds than they are on the field especially when little 'ole App State shows up.

Agree that those teams are not bad but I also agree with the premise of this thread. Hopefully we have a growing chip on our shoulder.

Judging by the post game player interviews with the defense, they have no delusions about how they performed. That can go a couple of ways. Hopefully it goes to a chip on the shoulder, prove the critics wrong attitude and not a finger pointing, not my fault attitude. That rides on coaching.

We'll see I guess. I'll be in Chapel Hill to bear witness

Also very likely that they will be ranked at 3-0. They’ve climbed the AP and Coach’s Poll rapidly with two wins, likely due to the name on their jersey and Mac Brown.

None the less, in the event they are a ranked 3-0 ACC team in 2 weeks, we will get a chance to see what our team is made of.

Everyone thinks Drink and Roof are playing checkers, when they are actually playing 3D chess.

Ya know, I'm beginning to actually feel this is the case.

I really hope that is the case. Drink is well aware of our desire to beat a P5, I've brought it up to him myself on the Spring Yosef Tour thing...

I hope he's right also! I'm hoping that we have been holding back. Saturday was painful to watch but the folks who are ready to throw in the towel already baffle me. We all wanted this transition to be magically smooth so that we would cruise to dominance everyone (at App) has projected. Hopefully Saturday was a glitch and the coaches get things back on track. I'm an unapologetic homer, so I will believe that's going to happen until the games are in the books.

Go Apps! Beat the Heels!

I couldn't find the article online but in the Greensboro paper this morning there was an article where a Tarheel player was quoted as being bothered that they weren't ranked in the Top 25 at all when they really should be in the top 10. I hope they totally blow out Wake, get ranked, and start focusing on Clemson...

Carolina is feeling good now. They are thinking they are likely going 12-2 this year.

Those two 4th quarter comebacks have been quite the elixir for their egos. They feel like they can take on the world now (except for Clemson just to seem rational of course).

I hope someone posts this in our locker room, high-lighting this part:

"In this disaster scenario, North Carolina would be hamstrung by injuries, go 3-9 and drop games to the likes of Georgia Tech, Appalachian State and Duke."

As if the only way they could lose to App is if they are riddled with injuries...I hope they blow out Wake, get ranked, and then get throttled by our guys on the 21st. :D

I am like John Snow, in that I know NOTHING. But my take is: there are six really good teams and ten really solid teams. 17-50 you could put in a bag and make a random draw. App is in that bag. UNC is in the bag. They may win. We may win. But they aren't one of those teams I'm scared of.

I've had the thought that the Heels won't recognize us from our film come the21st.
