Action Network has 56% of bets on App so far. The line opened at -4.5 and has dropped to -3.5. A lot of faith in us. Also, bet your children on the over.

Just use it for entertainment purposes only.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 8:42 amThe rule of thumb is to bet the underdog if you can make the case that they will win outright. I did say before the season started I would throw down on the money line, because I think App can win.

Not starting an argument but wondering why you feel money lines are too risky? I've been let down too many times with spread and o/u bets. Most recent example, bet the over for the Ravens (My team) and Cardinals game. Happy my team won, but the wallet was a little lighter. I'd rather be happy with an App win and money in my pocket, than get an App win and not get money. I do like to bet the spread when a team is heavily favored, especially in college football where scores can get crazy.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 8:42 amThe rule of thumb is to bet the underdog if you can make the case that they will win outright. Sure. No need for an argument. It's just a preference and it isn't my money. Money lines are tricky in college because you need a decided underdog to pull off an upset and win outright to make money. Obviously, the bigger the spread the bigger the juice to entice the wager. It's just too rich for my blood, especially considering the talent disparity among college programs./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 9:33 amNot starting an argument but wondering why you feel money lines are too risky? The only time I like the Money Line is with MLB as you are essentially betting on a starting pitcher and the staff of reliever.
Over/Under is a different issue altogether. I mean if you are voting the Under, you are rooting for a boring game. On the other hand, betting the over still brings in some unplanned variables that could affect the outcome. Turnovers, late game coaching strategies, injuries. It's all part of the betting. As with this game, the initial 52 point total screams to take the over and I would probably lean that way. But I can see this game being a 28-24 contest which puts it on the number. I like to see where the opening line starts and which way it gets pushed by the public and go the other way or buy points to move it in my favor. That is the basic strategy if you ask anyone that has been doing it for a long time.

Do you have a link to this? I would be interested in seeing this. I use Vegas Insider and they have the opening line at 3. It would be cool to watch where the money is going.ASU_Victory_Lap wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 8:57 amAction Network has 56% of bets on App so far. The line opened at -4.5 and has dropped to -3.5. I'm not sure what that's worth. UNC is a lot closer to UNCC than they are to CU.
As I understand it, the rule of thumb is that home field is worth 3 points. The opening line kind of indicates that the boys in the desert think App and UNC are pretty equal. Be interesting to see how much that line moves over the next few days.
I personally wouldn't touch this game. Too much unknown about what App will do after the bye and two teams with new coaches only 4 weeks into the season. Tough to project.

Re: UNC favored by Vegas -3.5
Stacking money lines in games I see as virtual toss ups based on the spread with other sure bets are ways I decrease the Vegas odds of winning while increasing payout (for entertainment purposes only) should the events happen. Also taking alternative lines is a good way to go. Like picking a small favorite (UNC at -3 at -110), at home, at a cover line of +8 at -350. Stack those teaser bets with other vigs at a higher price and go from there.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 9:19 amJust use it for entertainment purposes only.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 8:42 amThe rule of thumb is to bet the underdog if you can make the case that they will win outright. So it you want an intriguing proposition, FSU is laying 8 against Louisville. Nothing about FSU to this point tells me that they have the ability to cover a spread that covers two numbers.

Re: UNC favored by Vegas -3.5
Listing to that it sounds like we could have made a pitch to Mack to coach at App. I’m sure he doesn’t need money. Not saying we should have, but again, it sure sounds like he would have listened.
On a side note, don’t know how many folks saw the Pink out at UGA but that was driven by someone reading a weekly article for UGA fans that says why UGA fans shouldn’t hate this weeks opponent. The article on A State was about the death of the coaches wife. So my reason not to hate UNC this week will be Mack Brown. Don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t change how bad I want to win.

You mean the main perpetrator of the p5 bias has the p5 team heavily favored?

Re: UNC favored by Vegas -3.5
There are two teams I will never touch in wagers (although I do not gamble anymore), it is App State and the Panthers. Lately, App is good to cover as a favorite against FCS, but any other game is a toss up. Throw in new coaching staff in the everything is out the window. Panthers? Don’t touch them, ever. I won’t even touch their players in Fantasy Football. You never know what you’ll get week to week.
*I used to gamble on just about everything, and was pretty good at it TBH.
