#RankAppState

After a solid P5 win, I am already seeing people using this hashtag pushing for AP voters to rank us. I’m begging you, please stop. It’s incredibly embarrassing, we look desperate for attention and we all know what happened last year after we strong armed the AP voters on social media into ranking us.

We have been getting votes in the AP poll since week 1 and I can assure you the voters are not “sleeping” on us. Let’s focus our efforts on winning another conference championship and let the ancillary stuff that comes with that happen organically.

Nah, it’s just marketing in today’s world.

Still need to win probably three more to break in though.

I used to agree with this line of thinking, but in todays world it is almost necessary. People can say whatever they want about the polls but it is clear that they can be and are influenced by popular opinion. Players do it, coaches do it, so why not let the fans get in on it. Anything that keeps App on the minds of voters and the greater populace in general is very good with me.

- Tweeting a hashtag isn’t “strong-arming” anyone.
- We didn’t lose to GS because we were ranked.
- Only one or two out of 60-something AP voters currently rank us.
- “Our efforts” as fans have no effect on whether App wins a conference title. To the extent that we might have any slight influence on at least getting voters to consider ranking App, I say go for it.

I’ll be interested to see how much of a bump we get in both polls this week. Don’t expect us to be ranked, but we did get some help in addition to our own big win.

I think we will get a ton of voting points in both polls, but realistically if we get through the next 2 games still undefeated, that's when it will likely happen.

Nothing wrong with a little self promotion.
