Roof

Unread post by NewApp » Sun Sep 22, 2019 10:17 am

It's obvious that some of the ones who were wrong about Roof are now hedging and throwing out caveats. Just admit it you were wrong about Roof just as you were about Coach Satterfield when he first came on...calling for his firing. If Roof is so bad, then the blame goes to Coach Drinkwitz and AD Gillian for hiring him. He did not hire himself. H3LL, Nate Woody caught the ire from the same crowd when he first came on board until he proved himself then left.

Leave the d*** coaches and players alone. Support them not critique them like you are yourselves FBS level coaches.

Now flame me all you want. Just my opinion.

Since you asked, why another thread on this? Are your posts not getting the attention you feel they deserve?

I made the initial thread and I said I’d eat some crow, obviously worth it. But can we wait to see how the rest of the season plays out before acting like he’s actually some genius amazing DC? No doubt about it yesterday looked like the App defense of old and it was glorious, I’m ecstatic but it’s still EARLY!

I know there is. I posted in it. However, this post takes a different POV from the others.

Who said he was a genius? Mark my word, we will regret it to some extent when he leaves. There were many, many who wanted Woody gone in his early stages. Roof is no genius, but he's a whale of a lot better than he has been given credit for.

Sharing different perspectives is what a thread for. Only you start a new one on the same thing to bring attention to yourself. It's okay NewApp, we all know you are alive and well. Have a nice Sunday afternoon.

Well since we are here....I said on the OTHER thread....I’m not ready to eat crow after 3 games. 3 games does not a season make.

Strikes me that substantial corrections were made. Liked what I saw, and feel a lot better about Roof. Coach Drink seems to understand he's got to oversee it all as a head coach. Appears he is doing that. So, I'm fine giving Roof some room as we adjust to the new staff.

Credit to the players for making their adjustments as well. Coastal will tell the tale this week. I suspect we'll be fine.

Yes - I agree - I was not calling for a firing or anything close 2 weeks ago - some confuse questioning with "run him out on a rail" - The defense was better yesterday and to me the biggest takeaways were the young, inexperienced DBs who when their number was called stepped in and played very well - at one point I believe we had all 4 DB starters out of the game. It was so good to see Fehr and Davis-Gaither be so active and Demetrius was an All-American yesterday - however we did give up a lot of yards - 469 - and that is still concerning - We have had very good teams in the past which could out-score opponents if necessary and it looks like we might have that again - If we win, it is working ---- Didn't think I would ever see the day that we were "allowed" into Kenan and turn it into Kidd Brewer East - could have done it before if given the chance ---

Me either. Great game and to be in the stands and watch our celebration was priceless.

If indeed Roof was in the box and Gaspo was on the sidelines it injected energy into the players.

It is important to understand that we had some freshmen manning the backend of the defense late in the game due to cramping.

Let's not read more into this than anyone here actually knows. According to Drink, Roof was in the box so he could get a better view of the offensive set Carolina was in, whether there were in RPO or some other formation. We don't know if that was Roof's choice or Drink's preference and it serves no purpose to speculate. It will be interesting to see if that continues going forward. I think folks need to stop trying to justify their view of whether Roof is the right guy or not. No one needs to eat crow nor does anyone need to be fired.

Agree. Whatever the reason for the switch, it worked.

If that's what you believe (wrongly), then why are you bringing attention to yourself? If not why are you posting in this so called reduntant thread? Now, you and your cronies go ahead and bash the coaches and players after one of our most cherished victories. That's how you bring attention to YOU and YOURselves.

Dude take it down a notch. App played relatively well on defense but there were some stretches there where unc was doing whatever they wanted on offense. We had timely turnovers but we didn’t exactly shut them down.

NewApp, I have not made a single comment about Roof in any of the numerous threads about him, including this one. I was commenting on your habit of starting redundant threads. I could just not call you out on it, but you specifically asked to be flamed. I was showing you some love, that's all.
