Man I loved FCS ball. My fondest memories were all of our natty runs and those wild playoff games. That ‘05 Southern Illinois game I’ll never forget. It was the classic Boone weather game. 34 and “raining”. That same weather helped us out a week later when Ingle Martin slipped on that patch of ice on his way to the end zone. Literally saved the game for us.

I’m just playing around with the FCS talk. Some folks just can’t take a joke.

Edit: Though I’m being a bit of a hypocrite now because I gave someone shit earlier for calling ULM a jv team. So there you, man in the mirror.

28-18 now. 12:42 left. Long way to go, and Boise is Boise.

Boise a long way from done here. BYU’s a weird team. Yes they’re 2-4 with some bad losses, but their two wins are over Tennessee and USC (the real one), so I don’t think it would be a huge shock if they win.

If they do hold on, I agree with the take that Boise drops below us but not all the way out of the top 25.

Boise back in it. They just need a stop and they'll have a chance to walk it off.

Only way Boise State would drop out is if they get creamed and they aren't. A 1-2 possession game loss and they remain ranked. I do think we are 21 if BYU holds on. Boise State drops to 22-24 range. I still want them to lose a game in November.

Sure, I want them to lose again in November, but this loss is perfect timing for us after drubbing ULM. Things could be setting up for us to be ranked in the teens come halloween or in SC. Rising in the ranks as all 3 facets of our team are clicking..... Momentum can do a lot for a team like ours.

BYU is two kneel downs from handing Boise a loss.

All we need to happen now.

1. We must win out with some style points.
2. SMU lose the AAC title game.
3. Boise State lose one more game. I say this because if they run the table I could see the CFP putting them past us if they start to go on a tear and win out. Hopefully that does not happen.

Lots of scenarios still in play. Tons left to be decided. But we’re in a better spot than we were at the start of the day. And our team looked great. It was a good day.

It’s surreal. My freshman year we got destroyed by Eastern Kentucky. And now we are on the brink of being one of the top 20 teams. I still can’t believe it.

Zero chance a now 1 loss Boise is selected over an undefeated Appalachian for NY6. For the NY6, the bottom line is we need to be undefeated and SMU (and maybe Cincy) need to lose - whether they lose next week or November doesn’t matter. We have one loss - we’re going to New Orleans.

There is zero chance Cincy would be on any of my lists. Ohio state or not they got dismantled at home.

Boise State still has the MWC title game if they win out and if they win big each week the CFP may put them back ahead of us. They do have that big name and voters know for a fact they can perform on the big stage.

We are a lock for the NY6 if we win out and SMU, Boise State, and Cincinnati each lose one more.

I remember someone telling me we don't have to have statement wins to go NY6 but if you look at the polls today they will prove we do. If we had just won by say 3-7 points we would likely stay 24, maybe move to 23 at best.

Don't just look at the fact we will rise up 2-3 spots but watch our point totals. I bet you less than 7 voters leave us off their ballots this week, and we still may get on every ballot. If we beat South Alabama like a drum next week, we will be on every single ballot for sure. I fully expect us to be #21 today.

I was not around when we were left by ECU but every older fan I know is not spoiled like those who went to college from the Armanti years and later. They fully appreciate this. They remember when we were D2 or NAIA and have seen App grow. I know many of those fans who saw App drop to I-AA who were mad because they felt we should have left. I know someone who was in the meeting when the ECU AD begged App to go with them and we did not.

Remember, we have beat South Carolina before. I know many fans may think this could be the first time but it is not. I know many folks who were in the stands the day we beat the Gamecocks!
