Tailgate Warning
I just wanted to create this thread for informational purposes only and not to start a back and forth on the topic I am bring up.
If you are tailgating around Boone please know exactly where you are. If you are on "Town of Boone" property you are not allowed to have open alcohol containers. (sidewalks/roads..etc) I watched Boone Police wait on Howard's street for people walking from one tailgate to another or just simply crossing Howard street to Peacock with an open container and Boone Police were stopping and giving everyone civil citations for $50. (went to school at App so I know not to walk with open containers but everyone doesn't) The atmosphere of this area really makes it seem as an extension of the tailgating lots with people parked everywhere and tailgating on both sides of the street but please be careful I want all fans from both teams to enjoy the day and not leave Boone with a bad taste in their mouth.
Be Safe.

Re: Tailgate Warning
Got me one of those a couple years ago. I wasn't thinking, walked from one tailgate at the health services building down King St towards Peacock with a beer in hand. I saw the cops, held my can down and behind my back. My girlfriend at the time wasn't thinking and took a big gulp out of hers right on front of the cops and we both got a ticket. UUGGGH.

Whew! I thought for a minute this was GAS telling us that we had 50 days to the first football game. And all this had been a dream...3-0...beating CHeat...all of it.

Re: Tailgate Warning
Lame. Just take a washed out fast food cup and put whatever you want in it and walk wherever you want. “Golly, this Wendy’s Soda is really delicious”. Usually how we finish up our tailgating as we are walking to the game.

Re: Tailgate Warning
Yup it’s the cops fault for enforcing a law or city ordinance. Not the person breaking the law or violating a city ordinance. Heard this tune before.
I do applaud 3rd for the post. Never hurts to remind everyone ahead of time.

Re: Tailgate Warning
ASU basically stopped enforcing open container laws on Rivers Street in the last few years.

Re: Tailgate Warning
They may have but Boone Police have not. I don't want a post on this thread making people think they will be okay as I watched about 7 get tickets in about 30 min. on Howard street.

I’m glad the city of Boone continues to do their part on our game day experience.

Re: Tailgate Warning
I get it but if you really want to change behavior.... I think it’s better to direct people with open containers to private property and reminding them of the law....rather than making money from it....imho .....right highpointAppappstatealum wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2019 5:31 pmSpoken like a true blue blooded officer of the lawHighPointApp wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2019 3:46 pmYup it’s the cops fault for enforcing a law or city ordinance. Using discretion is a good thing. But after a while dialogue only goes so far.

Re: Tailgate Warning
I know you use discretion but growing up in Philly i enjoyed law enforcement that focused on the REAL problems and generally was helpful rather than making money ..... you know what i mean.... i support law enforcement all day, except when they are making money for the system...lol

I am just so happy there is now a third person that is posting Simpsons related material on YC.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Re: Tailgate Warning
We don’t. The money goes to the state. Now civil fines for violations of city ordinances goes to the city.
