Wow, that is a surprising statement. Not quite on the same level???? Who the hell writes that stuff? They use an example of a rivalry that is one sided and essentially state that we are the team on the other side of the rivalry that can't win often, this despite the fact that UL has NEVER BEATEN APP STATE. What a complete a total moron. Look, I get it if he feels UL has a better team this year but using that comparison is just asinine. I hope this gets posted on every players locker and they come out and show this know nothing writer just what team isn't on the same level. How does this writer even have a job covering G5 football. Saying we aren't on the same level as ANY G5 school is a stretch but to a school that hasn't ever beaten us, that is just uninformed, unprofessional journalism.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2019 10:17 amESPN G5 Playoff predictor
"The Ragin' Cajuns are the G5's version of Oklahoma. They boast an elite offense with a middling defense and are the best team in their mid-tier conference. Appalachian State is their Texas -- a decent challenger but not quite on the same level. Because Appalachian State is in the opposite division, a win for Louisiana next week over the Mountaineers would only boost the Ragin' Cajuns' chances of winning the conference from 42% to 48%."

Re: UL
ok, well at least that makes SOME sense but that's just a stupid premise. I hate the idea of a separate playoff / title and really don't care for anything that seems to be nudging things in that direction. Thanks for the explanation!Rick83 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2019 11:11 amNo, the basis of the article was if the G5 had a separate playoff with 4 teams being selected by the committee just like the regular playoff.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2019 10:55 amBy "playoff" are these guys meaning the access bowl bid? Even if that's what they mean, a 56% chance is WAY high for any Sunbelt team. Louisiana has almost a 0% chance of getting a bid because they already have a loss. Either these guys operate in fantasy land, or they just like to make their "bold" comments to prompt clicks. I admit it....I clicked.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2019 10:17 amESPN G5 Playoff predictor

Yep, it's click bait, and I am sure it's performing the purpose for which it was intended.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2019 10:55 amBy "playoff" are these guys meaning the access bowl bid? Re: UL
If we can win down there it will be a really good win. Looking at the different power rankings we are either a 3 point favorite or a 3 point dog. Being an away game on a wednesday night, I hope we are up for it. This game is probably going to come down to mistakes. Penalties, turnovers and special teams. Gonna be hard for either team to overcome mistakes.

These guys are major Homers. I'm trying to figure out why they think their talent level is head and shoulders above ours and that they are a better team? When the guy said "we are more talented across the board" I struggled to listen. If they lose, which they should, we may send them in a downward spiral mentally.APPRIDE wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2019 9:43 amI’ll just drop this rite here:

I really think no one outside of App Nation has seen us play outside of the box score stats. We have 2 NFL caliber WRs, and NFL caliber RB, and a NFL caliber LB. They literally think Zac is average or no good. They think because he has limited yardage, he is no good. They completely ignored the fact that our special teams has shortened the field all year. I honestly feel bad for them, they didn't do much in the way of analysis.

Not going to listen, but it sounds like they're feeling their oats. Easy to happen when you have your first good team in a while.appstatealum wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2019 11:04 amThese guys are major Homers. If defense shows up in a big way, Drink won't have to take his foot off the pedal and play the clock. We can give the CFB world a sneak peek at what this offensive engine can do when we floor it. Drop 60 on them and give them a golf clap on their ESPN FPI rank as we pull out of their swamp and head back to our 3333ft perch at the top of the Sunbelt.

LOL, couple random podcast dudes really moved some of y'all off that "I'll be happy to win by a point" stance pretty fast!

Nah it's their whole fan base that needs to be humbled. I was never thinking this is a win by a point type game. I've not seen anything out of them that really scares me.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2019 11:52 amLOL, couple random podcast dudes really moved some of y'all off that "I'll be happy to win by a point" stance pretty fast!

Gentlemens:
A literal reading of that ESPN article would reveal that the author did not indicate whether he thought App. State is on a level below UL or above. He might have MEANT to slight App., but he did not actually do it. When I offend people, I prefer to leave no doubt about whether I meant it.
It is actually a pretty goofy article and conclusion. Just ignore it.
Just sayin'.

Re: UL
Posted RPI stats on 3rd page. Updated with some of today’s games in (I’m assuming UNC wining has an influence here)
10-09 at La Lafayet. 4-1 (1-0) 56 Scouting 45-43 W
Moved from 44-43 to 45-43. While this is only a point, I believe it shows the metrics are starting to tilt to App.
I suspect the lines will start to follow.
