I think our record against G5 opponents where we are the underdog is pretty darn good.

How many times after 2014 have we been underdogs vs. G5s? Both bowls against Toledo I know. Maybe at Troy in 2016?

I was thinking this myself. I doubt were gonna be dogs on wednesday, but have we ever been an underdog in a SBC game?

It was definitely a reference to this year only. But there’s no basis to make such a definitive statement based on this year.

Again, it was a poorly researched and written article.
ESPN's Gamecast only gives us a 36% chance to win this game too.

Based on FPI - the same thing the article used.

Ul is going to be a problem on the Offensive Line side, but if ASU's LB's are patient and get to the play and gang tackle and ASU throws in some corner blitzing to throw off their QB to keep him honest, UL will get their yards but over time but they will not be able to keep up. Georgia Southern and South Alabama were hard to watch. UL is not as scary as one would think as this guy writes them up to be, we will see who they really are on wednesday. MS State lost to a below average Kansas State team. Our ASU team is getting absolutely no respect by some writers right now. They are looking at odds shark which just basis scores based on computer stats.

Games aren’t played on a computer. They’re played on a television.

We haven't been underdogs much, fortunately, but we did spend most of that 2014 season as underdogs. We certainly went into the Arkansas State game and UL games as underdogs. As you noted, both bowls against Toledo. Someone said "last year's bowl" but last year we were about 7 point favorites over MTSU. I think we were underdogs against Ohio in our first bowl (not positive).

I just like the way the Apps play when we have a chip on our shoulder.

Great offense, bad defense, new coaching staff, on the road vs a division champion....i can see why we're dogs in this one. The team can use it as fuel.

I remember the Arkansas State team that came into Boone and whipped our butt....They did it with a big line and a decent QB.....This ULL team reminds me of that team. Their plan will be to grind us down. Our corners are going to have to play a lot of man.........

Wonder what ULL defense is going to have to do?
They have a lot of pressure on them to stop The Zac Attac

The QB torched us that night.....who also had ED as his OC in 2013. Go figure.

True, but that game was on a short week Thursday night in 2015. We’re much deeper now than back then and are rested up. Turnovers swung that game in stAtes favor along with being flat out worn down from 3 games in 17 days.

Turnovers kept them in the game in the first half when we threatened to blow it open. OL injuries really hurt us - Beau Nunn was already out and then we had to move Parker Collins to center and he just couldn't reliably snap the ball.

Then in the second half their offense got rolling and we couldn't keep up.

Yep, we were playing with mostly FCS players at that point, they were great but we've gotten bigger, faster, stronger, deeper and more talented now that we're past the transition.
