My boys and I had a blast at the game. Wife stayed home.
Our defense is nasty and played lights out.
Offense kicked ass all game. We were toying with them in the second half.
I met an old college buddy who I haven’t seen in 22 years. Brought tears to my eyes when we saw one another, talked and exchanged numbers.
Overall a thorough ass kicking on homecoming. Hopefully

Good stuff all around but I was really impressed by Zach. He’s really growing. That pass to Evans for the TD run was a thing of beauty.

I was stuck at a car dealership getting another car all day (Not planned since car engine died).
Was very happy to check phone and watch some occasionally. Surprised me on the D again, probably more shocking than the ULL game.
Just have to keep doing it and get better where possible.

I have no clue what that first ULM drive was, if I have to complain about anything.
Also, scoring 52 points in the rain is NICE

Every. Week. I am reminded that what we have up on the mountain is truly special. I love hearing what Drink has to say.
Let's keep it going. 1-0 #BeatSAlabama

I thought App made a good team look bad. ULM took Florida State to OT and lost by one point earlier this year. App’s D played great, after that first drive; and I think the O could have scored 70 points if we wanted to. Great game guys.
Oh, and BTW Boise lost. Meaning SMU and App are the only remaining unbeaten G5s.

A bit of humor from the Jags message board: who is the genius who scheduled App. State for our homecoming?

Well, apparently someone wanted to see ONE good team in their homecoming game.

I’m starting to think it’s something our defense does to 1) figure out how they prefer scoring and 2) it’s been done in every game so far, and we’ve been winning, so why mess with a good thing? It’s like that terrible good luck charm.

Overall that might have been one of the most dominating wins in a good while, all things considered. We allowed an easy TD on the opening drive to what appears to be a fairly decent team (a team that should have beaten FSU). After that TD they did nothing. Toss out the first pass the backup completed and a few runs by their big back and it was nothing.

Teams normally script their opening drives with their best plays. I dont think it's fair to judge the Ds performance on that drive. They adjusted and then only allowed ULM fo cross the 50 twice more. They broke their spirit and still to play.

Completely agree. The other teams in our conference in particular aren’t executing that play.
Haven’t read any takes on that last TD throw. Was that for some style points? Obviously Jalen had to shake and bake and dust the defense but still. Old regime would not have called that play at that point in the game. There is just something different about hanging 50 on an opponent.

3rd and long with 9 minutes to play, we were just trying to convert the 1st down so we could burn more clock, but Virgil had other thoughts and busted loose

My take is Coach D wants to give Huesman as many reps as possible throwing it just handing the ball off. Great throw and even better run after the catch.

Exactly, wasn’t like we were throwing bombs with 30 seconds left. If you’re going to have backups playing most of the 4Q, you probably need to let them actually play rather than just running into the line over and over.
