#21 APP State -25 to South AL

Vegas Insider has APP has APP favored by 25. Lots of points but Troy just spanked them pretty good by 24. We need to win and win with style and of course those in front of us to lose. Last season had we beaten The Gumroots, we'd probably ended up the season ranked in the low to mid teens just by those in front of us losing. We can beat South Al just like we beat UL-M, I think our defense has rounded the corner by giving up 7 points in each of the last 2 games.

Not sure we can say much good about the SoAL team coming into this. Probably the hardest game to keep the team focused.

I was around some members of the team this weekend and it was crazy how focused they are right now on the details. They aren't even thinking about where the team is ranked. They are worried about what small things they didn't do well in the ULM game and how they can approve next week.

Look out. This App team is taking it up a notch.

We always listen to the post game show on the radio as we leave Boone and they speak to several players. What impressed me Saturday was how each player I heard spoke about the 1-0 approach and one even mentioned (and clearly he was already thinking about it literally minutes after the game) about how they had to get ready for a "very good South Alabama team." I of course was aware of South Al's record and know that they are not a good team but the player wasn't taking that attitude and it came out without hesitation during the interview so Drink and his staff have been effective in this 1-0 thing and not taking anyone lightly approach.

None of the players seemed egotistical about the ranking and just wanted to win the next game. Very impressive...

The defense was on the field for 56 snaps and 25 minutes. That type efficiency this week would be ideal.

Raykwon got dinged up in the game, but it looked like he was working through it on the sideline. I guess we will hear more later this week.

I remember when South Alabama came to Boone the first year we were in the conference and physically smacked us around pretty good. We still owe them as far as I'm concerned.....

I'm starting to think so. If they pound South Alabama and make it past Georgia Southern undefeated I think this team will do it. We really need to get Louisiana for a rematch in Boone and beat them by 17+ points. Show we are a couple levels above even a good team like them.

Funny how some told me I needed to temper expectations with a new staff and that we lost so many key players? Bottom line here is that our staff made adjustments with the defense and is keeping this team focused because Drink saw he had a group who could do exactly what we thought. I have been excited for this team since after the Penn State game.

#1-0 #BeatSouthAlabama

Yes, we owe them a good beating. A statement needs to be made. There are still doubters and 90% of those outside of our locker room and fan base doubt. We have to keep sending a message. A win is not good enough. We need statement beat-downs.

I don’t expect a beat down, from a scoreboard perspective.

Why not? Check out South Alabama's schedule. They are not good; possibly the worst team we will play all year.

Given that we have a short turnaround this week and it is the middle of a three games in 13 days, I would expect to see some grind it out drives to keep the defense off the field. Assuming that we have a large lead after half, I could see a large dose of Huesman, Anderson, and Clark in the second half. That is of course assuming we can get a large lead. My point is that while I can see a 48-7 type score, I can also envision a scenario where it ends up a 38-14 type game. Score and margin of victory is far less of a concern to me than getting in and out with some guys getting reps so the starters can sit.
