***THURSDAY UPDATE*** APP STATE / GA SOUTHERN WX TRENDS
Posted: Sun Oct 27, 2019 3:23 pm
THURSDAY AM UPDATE
Winds today are problematic. Any sort of tailgating tents will need to be firmly secured or not used at all. Looks like the bulks of the rain will be done in time for kickoff. Wind gusts will be picking up to near 40 MPH at times. Temperatures will plummet as the cold air rushes in.
Dress in layers. Feet kept dry and warm, head kept dry and warm will equal brutal weather conditions success!
-----------
5PM - Showers / storms, mid 50s
8PM - Drizzle, lower 40s, Wind Chill mid 30s
HALFTIME - Drizzle, mid 30s, Wind Chill mid 20s, gusty
END of GAME - A few snow flakes, mid 30s, Wind Chill lower 20s, gusty

Wild ride this forecast has been. Our Mountain, OUR Weather, OUR WIN!
FAIL SOUTHERN!
GO MOUNTAINEERS!

***WED PM UPDATE***
This has been a beast to pin down. Exacts are not realistic in the weather world. Having said, that, and this may change... I like what we are seeing in the data and the earlier departure for the main rain hit by mid way through the first quarter; or prior. Soggy for tailgating you bet. Some powerful wind gusts possible with cells as the roll over the mountains 4-7 PM ish. So, anchor your tailgate tents if you can.
But, trends as of tonight, favor an earlier departure for the rain. Some snow seems plausible by the end of the 4th Q.
Of note, winds will gust to close to 40 MPH at times later in the game and temps will land in the upper 30s by the 4th Q. Expect wind chill values in the lower 30s to upper 20s for the second half.
Either way, see you up the mountain!

**WED AM**
Hmmm interesting trend in the modeling this morning.... Things still appear soggy for tailgating and the first half of the game. However, if reality will play along, we may have most of the second half of the football game free of rain. End of the 4th could see a flake of snow wafting through KBS. No accumulations.
Will see how this holds up through the day. It's promising. Be over prepared, instead of underprepared. My rain gear is all packed. Extra socks to keep my feet dry and warm as well!

Wish I had better news. Rain. Lot's of it, appears likely for most of tailgating and the game. We could luck out and see the rain end by mid 3 Q. Don't be surprised if we end with a few flakes of snow. Some big ticket cold air will be racing in behind the cold front.
All in all, this weather person will be getting soaked along with my fellow mountaineer faithful. This will be an evening to test the mettle of one's App State soul. On the flip side of that, keep the kids at home.
Frankly, given it's "The Stink" we are playing, is anyone surprised by the forecast?! LOL....
Whelp, here's hoping for a shift, I'll update again Wednesday.

A Ghoulish Halloween forecast! Rain and chilly / cold temperatures. Welcome to THE ROCK Ga. Southern.... Mid to low 50s for the kickoff. End of the game temps will be in the upper 40s.
Rain gear needed. Will need to work to keep your feet and head dry. Hypothermia for the unprepared is not a pretty thing. Rain looks to be pretty steady. I don't anticipate many breaks in the rain.
Will tweak the next few days.
