Georgia Southern (5-3, 3-1 Sun Belt) ended Appalachian State’s 13-game winning streak, handing the Mountaineers their first loss since knocking them out of the Top 25 more than a year ago with a 34-14 victory.

You show up flat and play so. Allow the othe team to punch you in the month and don’t care. Worst TEAM performance since the debacle at va tech. The hype all week was how bad we want it. Got our ass handed to us and did not matter. Can handle anything but lack of effort

Can handle anything but lack of preparation! Remember, The Conference Title is our number one goal.

Hopefully Drink will learn from this much like satt learned from the always attack bullshit. For tonight. Lunsford is Drink’s daddy

Eliah Drinkwitz is 1 win away from doubling Scott Satterfield's year 1 win total. I think we're doing ok.

There is an awful big difference in the teams they took over.

Yes I hope I’m wrong but we could easily lose our next two also. We can only hope state beats southern and we beat state.

Not so fast my friend. Satts 1st year he purposely redshirted masses of players to prepare for the higher number of scholarships. Also no postseason possibility def left the team with little to play for.
That being said...the players are to blame for this one. Franklin gave up 2 tds almost by himself...just like he did against NC in the first 17 seconds. He lost it this year. Zach cant throw anything in the last 2 games...receivers cant catch and Oline got dominated. Evan's couldn't go anywhere.
I'm the first to jump on coaches, and yeah it looks like he didnt have the team prepared...but damn these are men. They took y'all to the shed by 20 last year and ended your ranked season. And then you let them beat you again? At home. Shameful.
South Carolina is going to crush these young men unfortunately. But I'm optimistic that we can win out our sun belt slate (though it wont be easy at Georgia State and Troy). I just hope someone can beat Georgia Southern so we can get in the sun belt title game and win it. If we do and win the New Orleans Bowl l....12-2 with a conference title will be a positive step forward and our best season yet in FBS. Then hopefully the 2020 Mountaineers will take us to a NY6 Bowl.
Side note...why do our kickers miss in clutch moments? Staton is a good kicker....no question. But since FBS move up....Southern Miss, Liberty, Tennessee, UMass, Wake Forest and Georgia Southern have been losses by 3 or less where we missed a kick (Southern miss and Tennessee where we missed an extra point that lost the game). Granted we beat Ohio and Toledo with late game field goals...2-6 is a poor performance over a few years when it comes to clutch kicking for a team at our level. Each game you can probably come up with an excuse (weather, holder, blocking ect.) But at some point it's too many instances we cant rely on a solid kicking performance to get us out of a bind.

Any comparison of Satts first year with Drinks is way off base.

We started flat and rallied late. The missed field goal was a big factor in 3rd quarter and more than likely the wind/weather was a factor in the miss. Staton is a very good kicker. Not going to fault his performance.

Southern has a helluva good kicker and he missed at the same end late. I consider those misses a wash. We lost by 3 so if both guys made their FG’s we still lose by 3.

I stand corrected.

That is true. Drink also has a ton more talent than Satt had as well. Drink has also been at the P5 level and Satt had not at that time. Your stat is true but the circumstances are completely different. Nobody should have expected more than 7 wins in Satt's first year. Drink has a team that worst case should finish 11-2 or 12-2.

I didn't realize we had so many pro kickers on this board. You try kicking in 30 mph wind and see how it goes.
And whatever qualifiers you want to put on it to make yourselves feel better or worse or whatever, Eliah Drinkwitz IS 1 win away from doubling Scott Satterfield's year 1 total. 2 x 4 = 8. Regardless of talent you're not guaranteed to have an exceptional coaching transition.
Elijah Drinkwitz IS a first time head coach. He IS 36 and he's been here for 10 months. Scott Satterfield was 41 when he took over. That IS 5 more years of coaching experience before taking over a program he had been a part of for almost 20 years. See, I have qualifiers too.
Stow your negativity. Man up. Gas up the family wagon and get your butts to Columbia on Saturday.
BEAT SOUTH CAROLINA.

Yes. Kicking was a gamble in that weather. The wind gusts were so strong and unpredictable, my wife about got blown over in the stands a few times.
No one should bail on this team, we still have a big statement to make next week and a win at SC would be huge for us going into the home stretch of the schedule. Win out, go Bowling, root hard against GAS. Hopefully they fall on their faces just like the flopped all over the field on thursday night to stop the clock. What a bunch of tools. See everyone down at USC!
