Shout out to App Fans

Unread post by appstatealum » Sun Nov 10, 2019 8:50 am

Wow! Biggest story for me was how many App fans made the trip and how we took over Williams Bryce. We dominated their stadium and truly took away their home field atmosphere. It was awesome to see!

Game ended up being too close for comfort. Drink needs to find a balance in his clock management and conservative play calling.

Des Franklin needs to take a seat and we need to get another safety out there. Loved him last year, but he has been brutal this year. *correction* rewatching on TV, a couple of plays that I thought #8 made were actually Des. He was solid in coverage. Still took some bad tackle angles later in the game, but he actually had a solid game compared to previous few games.

Zac needs to work on going through his progressions. Again, he had another rough night. Not sure what's going on and why he is struggling, but Drink needs to work on it with him.

Good bounce back win, see everyone down in Atlanta.

What got me was when Molly Cotton was interviewing offensive player of the game, Noah Hannon, he gave a big shout out to all the App fans who traveled to the game for their support. I could not be there, but thank you to all who did. Apparently it made a big difference!

APP contingent was loud and proud on tv and was mentioned several times. The chicken fans took off when it was obvious we were going to wring their chicken necks just like my Grandma used to do. But then we let them go. Man am I happy for our Mountaineers. At the end of the game I was more relieved then elated but I think we woke up the neighborhood after the last play even the dog was barking.
I wonder if Zac is fighting his instincts this year as opposed to last when he didnt have to "think" but trust his instincts and just play. IDK. I guess he really is learing to do his job a different way.
But didn't that whole team have a freaking attitude last night! SEC my butt that means nothing absolutely nothing.
Can't wait to see these boys in Boone again.

I was watching from home and was impressed with how much energy was coming from App Nation. The team won on the field and our fans won in the stands. It’s great to be a Mountaineer!

Disagree on Des. He did miss a tackle on their lone TD, but he made some big plays last night.

I did a couple of double takes watching the game on tv because App fans were so loud at times. Caught me off guard.

We took over!!! Great to see and be apart of AppNation last night. Glad the SC fans bailed early. Didn't expect to see that but thanks for making the traffic leaving better.

Section 17 was rocking all night!!! Stood for most of the game!!! Kinda glad we had those 3 minute TV timeouts..LOL!!! What a great atmosphere! USC fan told us after the game, that he was surprised at how well we travel, said we were as loud as Clemson! 1-0 baby!!!

Way more than that. That's an 80k stadium and we had close to a quarter of it in totality. I was floored by how many App fans were there

I was shocked how many we had there. It looked exceptional on tv and you could easily hear us. Well done to those that went, you represented us amazingly.

We kinda of had too. Those seat numbers were so close together, that no one was going to get comfortable sitting.

I'm rewatching it on TV now that I'm home. Des looked a bit better in his coverage last night than he has in last few games. He still is taking some tough angles and missing some cues, but this wasn't his worst performance.

At end of game it showed what looked like a packed stadium full of nothing but App fans. Impressive!

It was a great stadium atmosphere (way better than UNC BTW) and I had some moments soaking it in and thinking about how far we've come since I showed up on campus in the fall of '79. We were beating an SEC team in their big-time college football stadium where Alabama, Georgia, and Clemson comes to play on a regular basis...it was awesome. So proud of our guys who never quit and aren't intimidated by anyone anywhere..

Way to go App Nation. I'm glad you could all make it. My girlfriend and I would have gone had we not had separate weddings to attend. Some people on the 'gram were complaining about us cheering during their alma mater? Welcome to football, nerds.
GO! FIGHT! KICK ASS!

He did make some plays but he blew some coverage at times. He has been up and down this year. Last year I thought he was possibly better than Josh Thomas but Thomas is having a better year. Des still making enough plays he should be All-SBC. I was just thinking he was a 1st-team caliber guy from last year and this year he looks like a 3rd team pick now. He made a couple huge tackles for sure last night.

I was there, looked to be more in the 15-16k range of App State people. Most of the bottom visitor side ASU and half of the top visitor side ASU. Remember that stadium holds 80k.

On TV it looked like we had more fans at USC than we had at UNC and it sounded louder as well. That was a great turnout for us. Opposing schools notice those type of things, it is a big selling point when we can bring so many fans to their stadiums. Way to go all those who traveled and cheered on our Apps!
