Marching Mountaineer here. We were in the upper deck and had a hard time hearing anything. Apparently we were the first visiting band to be seated in the upper deck. Doubt USC ever does that again.Yosef10 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 9:12 amI did read that our band played through the tribute they do at the beginning of each game for the Hilinksi kids brother who committed suicide. It happens a couple of times and this video is limited, but you can clearly see our players grabbing the hedges, ripping them up, and throwing them in the air a the 33 second mark. It's not the worst thing I've ever seen a football team do, it's fairly mild. I just don't care for that type of behavior is all.

Re: USC Twitter Bad Mouthing Our Fanbase
I sent a lighthearted and harmless taunt to a good friend who is a Gamecock fan. His acerbic response: "You can kiss my Gamecock a%&!"
Living the last 23 years in SC has taught me that USC fans are a bit sensitive. My guess is because Clemson hands them an annual high colonic in football.

To be clear, that was an App decision, not a USC decision to seat the band up there.AppKing21 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:46 amMarching Mountaineer here. Re: USC Twitter Bad Mouthing Our Fanbase
I was kind of surprised at how rough some of them took the loss too, but I probably shouldn't have been. They're one of those programs whose fans' passion exceeds their team's track record on the field. They had a nice run when they hired a HOF coach at a time where the talent in their state was abnormally high. Now they're reverting to their historical level, and on top of that their arch rival is the king of college football. I'm sure it's not a fun time for themappstate77 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:54 amI sent a lighthearted and harmless taunt to a good friend who is a Gamecock fan. Re: USC Twitter Bad Mouthing Our Fanbase
I did not attend the game, but I did see where an individual made a comment that App fans were chanting "ASU" during USC's alma mater. I witnessed the same thing happen at Clemson a few years ago.
Bottom line - the ASU chant is cringe-worthy, and to do it during a unique pre-game tradition makes our fan base look more like trolls than fans of our own team. I wouldn't lose any sleep if I were to never hear that chant again. It lacks originality and doesn't represent our unique football culture to outsiders.

We had a fan in our section yell out go App during the prayer where the entire stadium was silent. He was a nuisance all game long and I would have happily helped escort him out even though he was an App fan.appfan22 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:58 amI did not attend the game, but I did see where an individual made a comment that App fans were chanting "ASU" during USC's alma mater. Doesn't surprise me. We also tried to bring the whole band, but athletics only gave us two buses. Didn't even have confirmation that we were going until two weeks ago. The football team is finally getting prolonged recognition, it's time to make these decisions months in advance. If we want to act like the P5, we need to emulate what they do at all levels.Yosef wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:55 amTo be clear, that was an App decision, not a USC decision to seat the band up there.AppKing21 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:46 amMarching Mountaineer here. Let them be salty, it's delicious.
The worst thing I saw in section 19 was fans chanting coming through the tunnel during the prayer / anthem. Once they could see what was going on they quickly stopped.
Also they seem to think that they can take over KBS when they come up the mountain in a few years. Yeah, good luck with that cocks.

I appreciate the response, and i wasn’t ripping you guys/girls, though I do think App’s band director should know the teams we’re visiting pre game traditions, and respect them as such - especially the new tradition at USC with the Hilinski tribute.AppKing21 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:46 amMarching Mountaineer here. App haters going hard on Twitter, it's quite hilarious. Especially the ECU fans, all that salt means they have been on the high seas for to long.

Was in Sec 17. Could barely hear the refs and never heard the band. Didn’t even know they were there.

Our guys grabbing a few handfuls of leaves and throwing them into the air is extremely mild compared to what the SC players did to Georgia's hedges last month.....Yosef wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:50 amIt happens a couple of times and this video is limited, but you can clearly see our players grabbing the hedges, ripping them up, and throwing them in the air a the 33 second mark. Twitter is designed to do exactly this. Make people debate and argue about things they didn’t personally experience regarding people they’ve never met. Twitter sucks

Thought I saw you from afar but wasn't sure.AppFan11 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 9:43 amHi Hap, I was in section 20 and couldn't hear the ref. at all. What a great turnout! I have had friends and family across the country say that they couldn't believe how our fan base showed out and how loud we were. There was a smattering of USC fans near us and they did their best to do their cheering rants but midway through the second qtr they were mostly silent.

I see a video of a bunch of kids who work extremely hard celebrating a big win with their fans. It's not like they are running around tearing up stadium signs with SC logos or pulling the damn hedge out of the ground. Just gave it a little trim courtesy of App State football.Yosef wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:50 amIt happens a couple of times and this video is limited, but you can clearly see our players grabbing the hedges, ripping them up, and throwing them in the air a the 33 second mark. After SC beat UGA I saw players doing interviews with handful of UGA's hedges...all part of the traditions and what makes college football great.

Yes, because another team destroys someone else's property makes it ok for our team to do the same? Destroying property is not celebrating. Let's be better than that.APP93 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 12:33 pmI see a video of a bunch of kids who work extremely hard celebrating a big win with their fans. You call that destroying property? Will the hedge die? Point is if SC fans are calling out our players for that then they are being hypocrites.Yosef wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 12:41 pmYes, because another team destroys someone else's property makes it ok for our team to do the same? If the players were causing permanent property damage that would be one thing...they were pulling some leaves off a hedge.
