Google maps is giving me roughly the same drive time from Concord by taking Hwy 321 or I-77. Can someone compare/contrast the routes for me? Don't know which one I should take. Thanks!!

Either should be fine. Personally, I'd take 321 as you'd be less likely to deal with an accident causing a backup in traffic.

Getting to 321 from I-85 could be difficult if you don't get into Gastonia before 3pm. Traffic is always bad once you get close to the county line on I-85. I live in that area so I see the traffic everyday. I-77 North can be a pain too though. Once you get out of the Charlotte metro either way will make for a good drive. Check Waze or Google Maps and go with it.
When will "It's better than what we had" no longer be good enough for App State?

From the Concord airport I would recommend taking the back roads to Davidson(hwy 73) or Mooresville(hwy 3) and avoid going thru Charlotte and all of its traffic. You would then hit I77 north and could either continue on to 421 or take I40 west in Statesville and connect with 321 in Hickory. Either way should take about 2 hours.

Any recommendations for place with best combination of food/drinks/view for after the game? I wouldn't mind kicking it after the game at a place with a great view of the mountains in Boone. Thanks again!
