What are the chances?

Okay, hear me out on this:
Gameday in Boone for the Sunbelt Championship game.
Lets get the obvious out of the way, we gotta beat Troy. So let’s say that happens.
From there we have the following scenario that leads me to believe this can happen.
1. Game has been flexed to ESPN and it’s a noon kickoff.
2. Virtually every P5 matchup has already been featured to some degree, and the other G5 matchups don’t make sense. Here is a quick rundown:
BIG10 (most likely) Ohio State vs. Minnesota in Indianapolis. Both teams have (will) already been featured for gameday
BIG12 Oklahoma vs. Baylor. Literally just had this game. Dallas.
ACC Championship. Clemson vs a Virginia team in Charlotte. Boring blowout. It’s the ACC, no one cares.
AAC Championship game. Memphis vs Cincinnati. Memphis already hosted one. I just don’t see it.
CUSA. MAC. Hilarious. Not happening.
MWC. Boise vs Hawaii. In Boise at some weird mountain time zone that no one lives in. They just aren’t going there. Mark it down.
PAC12. West coast constantly ignored, but should be a good game. Oregon vs Utah. San Francisco. I could see this maybe but the west coast hurts its chances.
SEC. LSU vs Georgia in Atlanta. I guess they will probably go here because they always do. But that’s lame and I like to dream. Plus they will be there for the Peach Bowl, already announced.
I don’t think Gameday would ever consider Lafayette. Their own fanbase thinks their atmosphere is horrible. And that would mean we lose to Troy and would drop out of the rankings so it’s a non-starter.
Boone for Gameday would be electric and it’s a long time coming.
I hope some serious lobbying is going on behind the scenes. I believe.

Unless they change the game time, Gameday would not be in Boone. Logistically it wouldn't work.

I hate to be the Debbie Downer, but I don't see it happening. Never say never, but it's a very small chance at best.
History isn't on your side. At least according to all the past locations I was able to find, GameDay has never been to a G5 championship game. Ever.
They've also made it a habit of throwing the underdogs a bone and have done a minimum of one G5 or FCS GameDay a year. At most I've seen two a year, not counting the Army Navy game since that's the only game that week. They're already at two for this year with the South Dakota State and Memphis appearances.
ACC nah, Big 12 would be fun but they already did that matchup, B1G is an option, P12 also an option but not as great after Oregon lost, SEC is the boring usual but potentially the most likely since it'll be a top 4 showdown.

I would love for Gameday to be in Boone, however for aesthetic purposes I would prefer next year, when most of the construction around the stadium would be complete. Right now its a mess. Yes I know the crew could set up on Sanford mall or even downtown River street for that matter but I think the brand new additions, once complete, around the stadium area would look great.

Need to wait a year or maybe a few to let all that construction die down around the stadium + Sanford Hall is in the middle of being remodeled so Sanford mall wouldn’t work at the current moment. Would love a game day visit in the future when us and maybe ULL/Troy/Ark st are ranked. The atmosphere would be amazing for that.

I’m curious as to why it wouldn’t work logistically due to game time? Could you expand on that?

I just don't see anyway that Game Day picks Boone as the location of the show for CHAMPIONSHIP Saturday. Just don't see it for that weekend, but I am hopeful that it will happen soon.

No one would love that more than us, but do you think game day is going to pass on LSU vs Georgia?

Exactly, top 4 matchup vs us? no way.
I think us hosting College Game Day is on the horizon, but not this year.

My guess would be he/she is thinking...
Gameday ends at noon. Our game starts at noon. That's a tough choice for those that would attend both. Do I leave early to see kick off and avoid a long line, or do I take in this historical moment in and see who Corso picks?

That was my point. I don't ever recall GameDay taking place at a site where the game immediately followed.

That is true but they did GameDay in the stadium. That's not the normal setting. Though it wouldn't preclude them for doing it that way.
It was carried on ABC not ESPN. Again, they are in the same family so that's not likely an issue either.

ESPN has done gameday in the stadium right before kickoff many times before, it just hasn't been done in few years because they like having the big field of people behind them.

So I'm not sure if anyone on this board is well connected with App State athletics, but if you were a possible candidate they'd already know by now.
When UCF hosted GameDay last year, we knew about two weeks out that we were one of three or so in the mix. Because ESPN contacts the finalists to vet potential locations and line up logistics, police, etc. So even before they pick the winner and then finalize all the details, you know you're in contention because all the pre-work has to be done.
