Woohoo! You had me at "free round"!EastHallApp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 10:24 amYou sound like my kind of guy. If App wins Saturday, hit me up and first round's on me at the Drinkery or thereabouts in a couple weeks.HkyMtneer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 6:59 amHa! To each his own...but I'll take NOLA over almost any other major American city any day of the week. And I've been to most of them. Again, not saying I wouldn't love to see us in the Belk Bowl, but it would be for purely financial reasons (the payout) and nothing else. If someone were to choose Charlotte over New Orleans for a fun weekend, then they must be a banker/accountant/or the like. I'm not that good at math but I do love to find any excuse to live a little and break the rut so I'll take the Quarter (or Marigny or Bywater or the LGD) and laissez les bon temps rouler!

Re: Belk Bowl?
As I noted before, i took my wife and kids (ages 9 and 5) and they had a ball in New Orleans. We stayed in the heart of the French Quarter, ate Beneits at all hours of the day, toured the Quarter and waterfront, watched the street performers, ate awesome food, and even saw a traditional Wedding march through the streets. My wife and I enjoyed the walk up bars and sipped beers as we toured the Square. At the market, they had free pictures with a cajun santa, free crafts for the kids, a petting zoo and different activities. Over by the casino, one of the hotels had a bunch of christmas lights. If you wanted to make it a family-friendly trip, it absolutely had the elements for that. We stayed out late both nights and saw your regular drunk folks, one girl passed out on the street with her friends, but it just provides me an opportunity to show my kids what being stupid will get you. They do not think much about it and i can promise you that is low on the list of things they remembered about the trip.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 10:33 amWell, I'll plead guilty to a little middle-aged debauchery last year. I would say that, for anyone who's enjoyed an evening in the Quarter, they're unlikely to confuse it with an evening in Uptown Charlotte (or probably anywhere else).Seattleapp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 7:49 amI reckon it comes down to how much debauchery you want to get into as a middle aged man. Once you are drunk which I assume is what most of the fans will be, really how much different are the bars at that point?
But it's not just the booze. It's the food, the music, the street art, the culture, Jackson Square... it's just unique. May not be for everyone, but there's a reason many people love it.

Don't forget beignets at Musical Legends Park! Cafe du Monde is obviously great but dollar for dollar I'll take Cafe Beignet and a little outdoor jazz on Bourbon as darkness descends on the Quarter. Nothing like it. Last time down I was sucking all that extra powered sugar through a straw like a jonesin' crackhead. And I'm not quite middle-aged yet but I'm glad to know that the fun doesn't have to stop because of a number.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 10:33 amWell, I'll plead guilty to a little middle-aged debauchery last year. I've always had a great time in New Orleans. Most of the French Quarter is great; it's just Bourbon Street that is nasty. Beat UL!!!!!!!

That’s a good counterpoint. Hope I see you down there

I'd love it if we got to the Belk Bowl. A bit selfish, but it's so I and the fiancee could attend.
Plus there would be more $$$ for the athletic department.
I'd like to see them invite UNC for a same-season rematch. That would sell out in a few minutes and be an electric atmosphere!!

I know it's unlikely, but with how frequently they're trolling ethan I would say there is a very small chance.

Re: Belk Bowl?
Had an awesome time in New Orleans last year, and can't wait to go back. However, if we could get the rare opportunity to play in a bowl game outside of our tie-ins, against a big name P5 like VT, I'm all for it. I know Ethan Joyce has said repeatedly that the Belk Bowl is 100% out, but with another writer putting us there in his final projection, there seems to be a least a little smoke. Personally I look at the 4.5MM bowl payout, which I believe is more than our entire five bowls combined, and have to believe that the Sunbelt would be willing to discuss having an outside team backfill one of our bowls to send us to Belk. I'm not sure why they wouldn't be interested in doing whatever is possible to make that happen. Assuming we win Saturday, I also can't believe the NO bowl would be disappointed with ULL taking our spot there either.
