No thanks on Bryan Brown!ericsaid wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 1:48 pmWhy not explore bringing Bryan Brown back, if that's the case.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 1:45 pmI don't care if he goes or not. I like Drink but if they offer congrats and see you. I don't mind coaches coming and leaving after a few years but our next HC could see the same result next year and then bolt if we hire another like Drink. I say hire Shawn Clark immediately. He will stay for a while and I know Shawn can run the show.beachneer40 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 12:56 pmSaw this on Arkansas thread, and also heard from a reliable source that Drink had a face to face interview with Ark. AD. Just posting the info and screen shot. This is a plane track from Ark. to North Wilkesboro (Drink) to Boca (Kiffin) and Idaho (Leech). Just thought I would share.

I'm still trying to figure out the infatuation fans and AD's have with Kiffin besides his last name. Of his 60 collegiate wins, 25 came at FAU in a weak CUSA with his most notable win coming against a 5-7 AF team in 2018.
What am I missing?
The UNC-C fans all have boners thinking Doogie Howser can poach App's recruits. Maybe they can get a corporate sponsorship from Cialis with Healy lounging in a tub in the middle of Club LiT.

You think they'd like to see him win at least a championship and a bowl game first.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 4:51 pmAnd I get that but the guy hasn’t even finished his first year.AppfaninCAALand wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 4:18 pmI said it when Satt left and it will be true when Drink leaves (whenever that is). At our level, we want the rich schools to poach our coaches. And we want it to be an ever 2-3 year thing. It means we win.
My wife's school, VCU, has replaced their men's basketball coach on average every 3 years in the 20+ years I've known her. And they are a regular in the NCAA tournament, AP Top 25, with multiple conference championships and a Final Four run.
Mid-majors that put their coaches into better jobs attrach better up-and-comers.

Why would UNCC want little ole Apps recruits? Do they need some guys for their scout team?moonshine wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 4:58 pmI'm still trying to figure out the infatuation fans and AD's have with Kiffin besides his last name. Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
I completely understand why coaches move for the big money. It’s a tuff business and you can be out of a job in a hurry. They need to make their money when they can. That said, if Drink did interview with AK I can’t help but have a problem with him doing so and again if he did he should have made sure that no one found out. Drink came in and asked the young men on this team to buy into him and his program and apparently they did. Sorry but he owes them, not me, them, the players, better than taking a job interview before the season is over. He’s in year one with these guys, make some kind of a commitment to them. I hate the fact that for the second year in a row our guys are preparing for a championship game and wondering if the coach will still be around for the bowl game to follow. The NCAA should not allow these interviews to take place until the season is over and that includes bowl games. College sports should be more about the students and less about the coaches.

I'm with you, but we all know how backwards the NCAA is. The coaches are the stars in the NCAA and they are paid accordingly. Unfortunately it's not in the best interest(of their pockets) to protect smaller schools from the poorly timed poaching. It's an unfortunate reality we live in.

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
I shared Drinks situation with My lovely wife who knows little of football. Less than a year as a head coach? she says. No recruiting class yet? she says.” What fool would hire someone who was a first time head coach w someone’s else’s excellent players and hasn’t proved themselves yet? She said. I decided she knows more than I’ve given her credit for.

Sounds pretty common sense to me. Then again, desperation is probably high at certain schools.Rekdiver wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 6:27 pmI shared Drinks situation with My lovely wife who knows little of football. Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
I’m all in on Coach Drink. But, if he has talked to Arkansas during our Championship week, I don’t think that’s right at all. I know coaches move for better positions, but I’d feel a one year stay is not appropriate.

For some reason I didnt think this was allowed. I remember hearing satt did not (directly at least) speak to Loserville until after the game. I agree that this would not be cool.

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
Only so many P5 jobs open each year so coaches don't care what they are going into. They all believe they can be successful wherever they go. When you add in the money very few will turn any job down. Arkansas coach 6 years 21 million contract. Satt 3.25 million with another million plus in incentives. If you get fired you just go somewhere as an analyst like Fedora and keep collecting that paycheck. The only ones that can be selective are the few that are at the top of everyones list like Norvell. Also saw where Campbell signed an extension with Iowa State so that takes another guy who would of been more coveted than Drink off the list.

I remember Satts buyout was smaller if he got permission from DG to talk to another school which he did. Anyone know if that is how Drinks contract is written.

Why can't Billy Napier's name be more active? Dude is a good young coach with a solid resume. Wonder if the ULL board is in meltdown mode like we are currently?

Apparently Will Healy at Charlotte is getting some interest from Mizzou, after only 1 year at UNCC and Austin-Peay before that. Crazy world we're living in.

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
I didn't hack Satt's smartphone nor did I have him tailed 24x7 by a retired CIA deep-cover agent...but I do know for a fact that he knew he was coaching his last game as App's head coach well before the KO of last season's Sun Belt championship game at KBS. For that reason, I wasn't all that disappointed to see him change his address.
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
We should have a 2 year minimum in the contract.
Seems reasonable to me to do that..
This thread is and topic is rediculous on so many levels.
If its true.... it sucks. Really sucks. No loyalty at all.
If it's not true and this thread is just some B.S. rumor-mill , that would suck even more!
Players and recruits reading this??? That would just really stink.
These things need to 100% without a doubt true before posting on here!
No non-confirmed rumors please!

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
I certainly get your point. If I may offer a different perspective. The coaches are football coaches and molder of men. If your child came to you with a situation where someone is interested in their services, would you advise them to listen and make a sound decision or would you tell them to stick it out where you are because you owe it to your co workers? I would advise them to explore all options. I wouldn’t begrudge Coach for doing the same.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 5:45 pmI completely understand why coaches move for the big money. I get the timing isn’t ideal, but it never really is in the world of college football. Especially when you are a good program.

I sent Yuracheks sister a note. Asked her to tell her brother to stay away from Drink!
