The absolute radio silence is a little concerning. Haven’t seen anything from him on Twitter.
He is on an XM station at 9 this morning. Hopefully they ask him, but I’m sure his answer will be generic coaches speak

I can tell you what he is going to say. “We are focused on 1-0 this week.”
Honestly, there is more out on the web about Napier as a candidate than Drink.

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
Why? I think he wants the Ark job. I mean, its where hes from and its a hug pay raise. They have 4? children I think, being close to family is huge." One of my colleagues just left a very comfortable job where he had huge support from management to move back home to help his wife out by being closer to family. They have ONE child. Times that by four. and add a couple extra million bucks a year.

There is some logic to this, but average tenure of a HC at any one school is what, 4 years? Going back is no guarantee that he will be there for any significant amount of time.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 9:00 amWhy? I think he wants the Ark job. I get the money issue but if Drink is shopping all of the SEC jobs I’m very disappointed. I’m also disappointed in Gillen for not securing more of a commitment from him in the beginning.

sure- but i'd take the guaranteed 10+MM and the 3-4 years to help out my wife during the formative years. Once its time to move on from that you can be very particular about where you land-either moving up or down.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 9:05 amThere is some logic to this, but average tenure of a HC at any one school is what, 4 years? but my real point is I don't want to have a coach that tells the fanbase hes not going anywhere if hes actually pursuing a job, only to be extra disappointed if he takes the job. If and when Ark fills with Kiffin or otherwise, maybe then we'll see a statement.

Yes, I get it. I just don’t have the same affinity to holding on to Drink, like I had with Satt. This type of thing comes with our success though. For what it’s worth, we don’t know that he even interviewed with Arkansas. All we have is a plane that landed in North Wilkesboro fro Boca. The Ark 24/7 message board confirmed that the plane is owned by an Ark booster, but the passengers on board were people coming from a horse competition in Boca.

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
We all talk a lot about coaches in general moving for the money. I’ve said many times that I get it. You can set your family up. But I stoped and thought about this a couple of days ago. $750,000 per year ain’t exactly poverty level living. I know plenty of families that raise 4 kids on $50,000/year. On $750,000/year you could spend $20,000 a month and save plenty of money to retire on in 10 or 15 years. And I’m talking about spending $20,000/month. Not having it pre tax. A family of 6 can live a really good life in the mountains of N.C. on $20,000/month. So I don’t feel sorry for anybody who finds themselves in the position of doing something they love in a beautiful place for $750,000/year. This crap is really out of wack.

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
Really not much. They were talking about the cotton bowl and if he was going to talk it up trying to help us get in.
Drinks response was he is just trying to win the championship game and then let the chips fall where they may.
Never really talked specifically about a bowl game.
The pessimist part of me says he is thinking of leaving, the perfectly realistic side says that isn’t what he meant by that omission.
Sunday needs to hurry up

Re: Drink interviews w/ Ark
I think we need to pass out paper bags to breath into.
It is what it is - if Drink leaves for a bigger payday, good for him. We'll soldier on and win some more football games. My YC donations and affinity for Appalachian isn't tied to him, nor a winning athletics program (I mean, it kinda is, but you get my point).
Give 'em hell!
