It’s because he is credible and is reporting information through reliable sources and not message board chatter or the schematic that you have drawn up on your basement wall.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 11:02 amSo I said everything we needed for Belk Bowl did not happen yesterday and I'm told to go to bed and that I'm insufferable. Ethan Joyce says it later on and that is okay? LOL. I'm just being real and looking at this how the committee and outsiders do.
Liberty Bowl could be it. Has to be a bowl within 5-7 hours of Boone or else I would not think another bowl would have real interest unless the other team is very close by. These bowl games would like good attendance and the best possible matchup for national interest.

Re: Apparently App has legitimately been considered in Belk Bowl talks.
I was just thinking. We could have gone 7-5 this season (theoretically) with 4 non-conference losses and, for argument sake the Stink loss and still won the East and the championship. That would have put us at 8-5 overall and nowhere near the top 40 or even 50. Had that happened we would still be in the same bowl position. We would not be talked about at all on a national level and all season everyone on this board would have been melting over the losses to ETSU and Charlotte (and the P5’s of course). That being said is there any other team/conference whose league champion could have had this potential swing in record but be relegated to the same bowl?
I’ve personally thought that the entire bowl system needs a drastic overhaul. There should be a tier system to include possible regional adjustments. A 12-1 top 20 App team should be able to slot into a more lucrative regional bowl. Seems like a no-brainer to me. If a tiered system was in place the CFP poll would have some added excitement beyond the top 4. Imagine if we knew we could climb up the bowl hierarchy each week to go from say, the Liberty Bowl in week 1 of the voting to maybe the Orange Bowl! Just wishful thinking

Yeah. This stuff is well beyond our pay grade and beyond any connections we may have. My best connection about Bowl Games is some of the BofA stadium staff and me asking them any news they were hearing about the Belk Bowl.

Forgot his name but the school had to issue a statement due to death threats he was receiving. Had Arkansas on the ropes in their own backyard and it had become obvious that Holtz was on the way out by that point.AppState89 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 11:43 amLOL.. I work with him. I never felt that strongly about it but kids are dumb. By all accounts it was a great atmosphere though. Assuming the match-up was with another school that could help get the bowl to 90% full it would be a great time and week leading up for anyone who goes.

Bigger payout for Belk.... That's why the SEC would throw a bone for Liberty if it works out that way.

The other ridiculous screwed up aspect of the bowl system is the inevitable number of blowouts that will occur. Virginia made it to the ACC championship by default, gave up over 60 points and is slated for the Orange Bowl? They will lose by over 20 points and still take in way more than we will. Explain that please?

We have always known where everyone is going by now for sure. It is odd. Whoever said that is spot on. Something is up.

I did not draw up anything on my basement wall. I'm no reporter but because of my playing days I have a few connections to people that I can find out some stuff. I also have a pretty good eye for what you need to happen.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 11:42 amIt’s because he is credible and is reporting information through reliable sources and not message board chatter or the schematic that you have drawn up on your basement wall.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 11:02 amSo I said everything we needed for Belk Bowl did not happen yesterday and I'm told to go to bed and that I'm insufferable. It is like the Cotton Bowl talk on us was a complete waste of time because Memphis did not lose a second game. That one alone to me is common sense. We know the perception of the AAC and SBC and it is fair. Their league is much stronger. If our league was 33-13 and their league was 22-18 in OOC play we would be laughing at anyone saying their 1-loss team should get the Cotton Bowl over our 1-loss team.

Look at the strength of their OOC opponents versus the Sun Belt. These schools, admittedly, don't play top P5 programs on one and done deals because their TV deal doesn't require a once or twice a year subsidy.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 12:05 pmI did not draw up anything on my basement wall. I take that back.... Looks like the payouts are about even. I've seen some fluctuations in payouts over the last few years, but appear to be equal recently. So, maybe your point is valid. If payouts are equal, it would be dumb to do that.ericsaid wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 12:08 pmTravel cost comparison?
