Yes, and Navy who was losing 35-3 at halftime but is ranked 7 spots below the team that beat them like a drum.

I don't get it. Navy hasn't beaten anyone of note other than SMU who also didn't beat anyone of note. If Sun Belt schools could schedule like the AAC our SoR would be better too
It’s all about OOC wins and P5 wins. The more damage the Sunbelt can do outside the conference, the stronger we look.

CUSA has 5 teams with 8 wins or more. We have 2. But CUSA lost every OOC game they played and all their wins came internally so everyone just thinks the conference is trash and they all cannibalized each other.
Yes, but while the Sun Belt is playing Penn State, UGA, Alabama, Clemson, etc. The AAC is playing Oregon State, Ole Miss, Stanford, Pitt, etc.
Those records are just this year. ASU played UGA but nobody from the league played Alabama, Penn State, or Clemson this year.

They big name P5s played by the SBC this year are UGA, South Carolina, UNC, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Miss St, Florida St, Kansas, Minnesota. I would say UGA, Minnesota, and A&M are the real good ones from that group. FSU, UNC, and MSU are very solid ones.

Look at the AAC vs SBC too.

SMU 37 Arkansas St 30
SMU 47 Texas St 17
Memphis 42 South Alabama 6

Western Michigan beat Ga St 57-10 and UAB beat South Carolina 35-3 but we did own the MAC and CUSA for the most part.

What we do know is that we really need to see App and ULL face someone like SMU, Cincy, Navy, Boise St to find out who is truly better.
SMU played Texas State and Memphis played the last place team in the Sun Belt. They also beat Monroe by 19, a team App beat by 45.

UAB lost to Tennessee 35-3, I thought? They didn't play USC.

The Sun Belt's P5 line-up, collectively, is far more difficult than what the AAC deals with. I'd also argue our G5 match-ups are more in line with what you'd like to see.
Yes, I had a typo. I was thinking about USC because of us. SBC did play a little tougher P5 lineup but against those good ones SBC got beat badly. Ga St and App St both beat a bowl bound P5 but nobody else from either league beat a good P5.

The point is those records and they do have a winning record against the SBC. App and ULL need to play AAC teams. Until the top teams in both leagues play each other we will never know.

It’s laughable that some of these dudes have us out of the Top 25. My man had Cal in there...what an uninformed idiot. And these are the guys we are counting on for quality news.

Those guys are slanted too far away. To think there is not a G5 top 25 caliber team outside of Memphis and Cincy is harsh and to think there are 8-10 teams who should get a vote is crazy. Those guys are definitely biased against the G5 level.

Usually only 17-19 teams are unanimous and we are 20. I would think had we won by 20 or so they might have put us in. It does not mean anything important but it would look good to be unanimous in the final poll.

We need to roll our CUSA opponent in New Orleans to get there. Look at the votes FAU got. That is what you get when you put up a dominant performance. G5 teams get votes when they have a good record in AAC or dominate the other leagues. We need to make a statement. If we get up by 24 we need to win by 40 and not let a team come back within 10 or so.

Yep, I agree. Happened too many times this year. I hate running up scores but that's the nature of the beast in this era of pollsters.

We won yesterday and that is a great accomplishment but we played great first 30 minutes and then didn’t finish them off Strong in second half. We did not make a statement, just did what was expected yesterday.

In big boy football we were not just playing in SBC Champ game but also competing against AAC and MWC champ and didn’t move the meter in that respect. That is just the way it is.

This year we played numerous games in that style where we got a lead and then went into run the clock out mode and it ended up closer than it should. We have a very good football team this year.

I have to rib you guys here. I kept saying NO Bowl and Memphis to Cotton Bowl but was told to shut up, go to bed, 247 is hearing from legit sources, etc. We were going NO Bowl and Memphis to Cotton all along. It was just fact.

I wanted AAC or someone else but figured this would be UAB or La Tech. We need to win this game by about 30. Our team needs to make a statement. This game means more for 2020 preseason poll and placement towards NY6 next year than anything. We must make a statement. Go App!

Just stop. "I told you so," is a bad look. And not one person here was harmed by talking about what might be.

I get we were not harmed but there was no "might be" to it. We never had a shot at Cotton Bowl. I won't do it again.

Now, we have to make a huge statement against UAB. We need to show that our idea we got snubbed is true and beat these guys 50-6 or something. UAB is a solid team but anything less than 20-30 point win here will be a disappointment. We need to perform like a top 18 team should against them because if we win big we should end up that high.

Maybe Drink should consult with Dabo about the importance of winning by as much as possible, especially when playing in a conference perceived as weak. Play to win impressively. Don’t play not to lose.

Winning is a great thing. Did we miss a chance at NY6 bowl b/c of our loss to Georgia Southern? Appsolutely. However we won the rest of our games. That’s good enough for me and quite possibly the team. We play who is in front of us. What ifs and could have beens mean nothing.

Those that want to bitch, moan, gripe and be trivial need to quit their current jobs and starting coaching middle school football. Start working your way up the ranks to D1 college and then maybe your opinions will rate somewhere.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion but stupidity has been overflowing on this message board.

I’m optimistic and not pessimistic. I honestly don’t know how some people on this board have survived being an adult. Just my .02 cents.

I’ll support App State football against whomever they play and wherever they play.

Go Apps!!

Complete disrespect from the conference, ESPN, college football committee and the stinking bowl people! I’ve lived thru the “ kicked to 1-aa/ fcs” era. Where is Doug Gillen in all this-where is the guy from the Sunbelt? Apparently they neither one have lived thru being kicked to the basement. I don’t hear either anything from either. one of them except more of the same “we’re happy with the bone you threw us CRAP! I’m a product of the 60’s and 70’s so I’m ready to challenge the establishment!

We don't know what was said before things were announced, and I'd hope they went to bat for us. But given where the chips fell, what would you have them say now? Any shade they throw at CFP committee, ESPN, etc now is just gonna seem like sour grapes. Even more so if we actually lose this game. Remember Toledo last year?
