Did this last year, ATL to New Orleans. Can confirm.Hudson2002 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 10:38 amI've never flown Spirit, but my understanding is you can take a personal item like a backpack at no charge, but you'll be charged if you have an actual carry on luggage bag. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I would just throw what you need in a backpack and be done.

Earlier this week, Spirit had $65 round trip from Nashville to Nola (put your stuff in a small gym bag “personal item” so no carry on fees).Seattleapp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 10:05 amIt’s 600 miles from Knoxville to New Orleans. May have to throw the app flags on and just hit the open road

Re: New Orleans Travel options—cost
Spirit limits it to smaller backpacks; the dimensions are listed on their website. Otherwise, it is cheaper to check a bag but better to do it in advance on the website. They charge more if you wait until the airport to pay for the checked bag. Better airline than they used to be. Newer jets. You just pay for everything else even water on the flight. But if you do not mind getting seats they assign at check-in and not buying an other ancillaries, it can be a bargain.
