New Orleans Travel options—cost
Please share any good flight or travel cost options to/from New Orleans.
I’m finding round trip air is about $450-500 from multiple airports. I looked ar Amtrak and it was $150 (each way I think) and about a 15 hour trip.
Thanks. Go Apos! 1-0.

New Orleans being a cool town, this trip is financially a disaster for most of our fan base. Basically a flight only destination on two weeks notice to play UAB. Not slighting them, but ranked and #20 in the COUNTRY and this is where we are expected to drop a lot of money. I was prepared to spend some money for a bowl game, but i'm squarely on the fence at this point which sorta sucks.

I have to agree that it's a bit rough financially. I'm not giving up my golf membership for a few days in NO for a football game. Plus being around the christmas season doesn't help.
Since the Bowls are all about money, I can't see why they don't look at more regional match-ups to allow more fans to travel and attend. Sure Charlotte isn't that sexy a location for most of us (as it's close by for many and a lot of alumni live there as well). However, could you imagine a rematch between UNC and App at the Belk Bowl? That would sell out in a matter of minutes and be one heck of a game-day environment.
Let NO invite ULL and another school close by to increase their attendance.
Wasn't the turnout pretty low for last year's bowl in NO? In the 24-25k range?

We went last year but won’t be doing it again this year. Fun trip if you can swing it. You will get great seats even if you wait and buy them there at the dome. We sat on the 50, front of second level. Just high enough to see field really well.

My girlfriend and I are out 420 each after booking the flight, hotel, and buying tickets. All told it’ll probably be a 600 dollar trip.

If you choose to attend, you will not be disappointed. These coaches and players need our support.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 11:56 amNew Orleans being a cool town, this trip is financially a disaster for most of our fan base. Re: New Orleans Travel options—cost
I stayed at the one hotel with Parking in the French quarter last year....looking at options this year. Did anyone drive and have a good parking option around French Q/Riverside? I’m not trying to pay whatever hotel I stay an additional $50 per night to park. There were a few $20/24hr lots on the other side of the Quarter.

Team Hotel is the Marriott. But anything in French Quarter is walking distance to everything. Parking fees are atrocious, so just add $40-$50 per night if you are driving or renting a car. We stayed on the other end of Quarter last year and walked everywhere for two days, even walked to the Superdome no problem with 2 little ones.

I believe it was the La Quinta we stayed at, a block or so from the Marriott. Easy walk to French Quarter and nice enough without breaking the bank. Can’t speak to parking. We Ubered from airport.

Re: New Orleans Travel options—cost
I bit the bullet, booked a flight for $600. Could have driven 4.5 hours to Atl and flown on Spirit for $150 but the “opportunity cost” of 9 hours of driving/vehicle cost, made it easier to make the decision. I’m traveling solo, if other family members were going, I might have decided on the Spirit Air option.
Staying at the Marriott team hotel on Canal Street.
Definitely sign up for the Pregame App event in the Dome Saturday. Pricey but worth it.
