Did y’all just start paying attention to G5 football this year? The anger and whatever else y’all have for a man who just went 12-1 and then upped is salary by over 400% is insufferable. And it’s going to continue to happen. Maybe this fan base was just built for the FCS days.

You arnt reading the posts. It's the players and people closest to the program who are outraged. Rather telling of whether things were handled correctly

I don't, and I personally think Clark COULD be the best candidate, but I think we should do our due diligence before we hire him largely because of a social media push by the players. For lack of a better analogy, it could give the appearance that the inmates are running the asylum. In short, I like Clark and would be content if he gets the job.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 2:10 pmIn theory I agree with you. And you make good points. Do you have someone in mind you think would be better?Chaz wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 2:00 pmI appreciate that the players are showing support for a guy they obviously respect, but it seems like there may be some kind of mutiny if Clark isn't hired. The players can't be allowed to dictate who they'll play for. At the end of the day, their responsibility is to play.

Definitely a bad idea, I was joking of course. Though, it would probably be an interesting listen.Rekdiver wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 1:56 pmbad ideaAppfaninCAALand wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 1:52 pmHow about can we get some recording equipment in there?MountaineerChemist10 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 1:43 pmTeam meeting today at 3pm eh? Honestly, media and twitter make this a lose/lose situation for Drink and the players. All the data is out there before it's finalized. If it was me, I wouldn't want to give a speech without having a contract signed...I'd also be pissed that it's reported as a done deal...but when someone strokes you a check for $4m, you probably let them dictate the rules to some extent. No perfect world scenarios here...

The man had as much to do with our 12-1 record as CC had to do with any Nat Championship.Yosef10 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 2:12 pmDid y’all just start paying attention to G5 football this year? Clark has a good resume, was our Associate HC, built an outstanding Offensive line, the glue in our recruiting and is well liked by the players. He didnt fall off the turnip truck yesterday...Oh and he played at App.

I would worry much more about transfers etc at this point if it isn't Clark.

That's why I prefaced it, but we could suffice to say the guys not in charge are telling the people in charge what they should do.Boonegoon wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 3:37 pmI really hate that analogy.Chaz wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 2:18 pmI don't, and I personally think Clark COULD be the best candidate, but I think we should do our due diligence before we hire him largely because of a social media push by the players. Re: App State players are speaking out on Twitter
Clark's got the reigns for the NO Bowl. The best thing he and the team can do is go out there against the Blazers and put on a clinic and not...let...of...the...gas.
i'm normally not for running up the score but these guys are mad, let them take it out on someone.
If it's a good fit, give him the job...but we'd be fools to not see who else is out there. We are a Top 20 team so it's not like we're desperate for someone who knows how to coach...we can be a little picky.

Re: App State players are speaking out on Twitter
I've never met Clark but his resume is strong and he is definitely an App guy. I feel like with Drink leaving after just one season we need to be careful not to create too much turbulence with our coaching staff. So yeah, do a super quick national search, which I suspect was already in motion because Gillin's not stupid, but if there's not an obvious potential longer-term quality candidate then promote from within. I like the idea of Clark as HC and then keeping most of the current assistants if possible. I didn't feel this way last year but we were coming off decades of coaching stability...

Re: App State players are speaking out on Twitter
Signing day is 12/18, I’ll in on Clark. His resume includes 7 years as an assistant at FBS programs including OC/AHC and then four at App.
We could go after another P5 OC or DC or FCS HC, but they would be short term rental with the talent we have coming back.

Re: App State players are speaking out on Twitter
This pretty much sums up my feelings. We need to do a quick national search - never know who may be interested. I believe with Drink here just one year, we need the stability that I think Clark will provide. Not to mention he may just be the best candidate regardless of his App ties.Rick83 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 3:57 pmI've never met Clark but his resume is strong and he is definitely an App guy.
