Doug Gillin?

I truly miss David Jackson and his association with App State athletics. He was always so very open and kind to me and my wife. I remember one day several years ago when we were going to make a day trip to Boone and I contacted David. He invited us to come by the new facility which we did and he gave us a complete tour - just the two of us. We were very moderate donors at that point in time so he didn't do because of any other reason that he was so proud of all the accomplishments of his university. Unfortunately we haven't been able to make the trip to Boone for several years now but if we did and there was one person I would want to "run into" it would be David.
And a note to David, if you are reading this, the first thing I thought of when NE Guilford beat Western Alamance this year in football (first time in some time ) was you.

DJ and his father were in the Admirals Lounge on their way to an App b-ball game in about 2013. I was heading to DC to a hockey game and stopped by their table and spoke to the both. They were friendly and welcoming of a fellow Mountaineer, even though I’m sure they were hoping for a little peace and quiet. I kept the visit brief, but DJ let me know to contact him anytime I needed anything related to App. He’s a great Mountaineer and although Adam Witten is a fine broadcaster, I do miss hearing “Ballgame at the Rock!” Every Saturday in the fall.

I have already thought about DJ. I wonder if he would take it?

I don’t know, but I’m going to start seeing who may have a way to contact him and put a bug in his ear.

Yes - I do as well - since all games are on TV, I don't listen to the broadcast much anymore but as you say, Adam and his crew are good ! - But David and Steve Brown were the best combo in the state (as well as region) during their time.!!!

Dan Hauser who is currently the AD at High Point University. He has been a part of the huge growth there and the rise of quality sports teams. He graduated from App State. And was at Ohio Bobcats before that.

Dan Hauser who is currently the AD at High Point University. He has been a part of the huge growth there and the rise of quality sports teams. He graduated from App State. And was at Ohio Bobcats before that.

Regardless of HPU not having football, Dan Hauser would be an EXCELLENT CHOICE should Doug Gillin take an AD position elsewhere!!!!

His resume looks pretty impressive and I imagine he'd make a great candidate, if interested. My only question is how much love he has for Appalachian and would that be enough...because I doubt we could compete with High Point financially, if they are intent on keeping him around.

His hands probably wouldn't be tied by the head of the school like somewhat now, hence the basketball hire at HPU. Scott Cherry did well, but now the program is 2-7 and struggling.

Next time I see him I may try and ask him. I saw him last night but the circumstances were not ideal to ask the question.

No to Jackson. We need someone with similar credentials to Doug. Some one who has a career in business and sports management, Knows physical Ed and has been through some sort of transition already .Which Doug has done at Missouri with their transition to SEC.

Recall last year DG was silent while all kinds of names were being thrown around. then he came out of left field with a really quality get. i wouldn't read much into silence on social media, and from what I know of him he is on this and will stay on it until completion. Just comes across as that type of guy plus his track record speaks volumes. Someday we will lose him, but right up until that day he will do his all.
