I could see a raise of say 10-20k but not much more than that. He is pretty much on par with his rivals across the country in the same position.TheMoody1 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 3:23 pmTake a look at all the AD salaries. I say he deserves a raise.

If you notice our level of "other university compensation" aka donors, is pretty low.

Re: Doug Gillin?
Did you compare his salary to the AD's at other top 25 football schools.appdaze wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 3:53 pmI could see a raise of say 10-20k but not much more than that. He should surely be paid more than Charlie Cobb.

CC also threw baseball under the bus by extending Jones on his way out the door. Set us back years in recruiting. KS is building it back but it takes time, to your point.ericsaid wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 3:38 pmThe basketball team was thrown under the bus by Cobb. It will take a couple of seasons to get that roster rounded out.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 3:28 pmI'm sorry, but I don't agree. He's the athletics director not just the director of football operations. We have a lot of work to do. He has a lot of work to do. If he wants another job, God bless him. But App needs an AD who understands the whole picture. To me, that's why the AAC isn't interested in him or us.ericsaid wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 3:13 pmIf you are job hunting with another firm, and have an offer in hand while not being opposed to staying where you work, you'd be a fool not to listen to their counter offer.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 2:59 pmYou're really suggesting that someone who didn't get another job should get a raise for not getting another job? If that's the case, are you hiring?
It's entirely possible App worked out a package for Gillin that made it more attractive to stay in Boone rather than go to Cincinnati. Whomever they would choose over him would have to be pretty damn impressive.
You can't buy every bad coach out when they don't pan out. You have to ride it out until their buy out is manageable, which is what was done with Fox. Then you move on.
As for the Yosef Club, App does the least in terms of advertising and explaining the impact of a donation that I've seen.

Edited out stupid comment.Rekdiver wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 3:49 pmOk...I've got 4 young daughters and am 36 years old. Someone is offering me $16.0 million to bring my craft to another local. I didnt plan on it, it came sooner than I expected, I know I got lucky and i hate to do this but I cant afford to pass this up. I see this no different than an underclassman leaving early for the NFL fearing injury. And Im sure all the heavy lifting came from his agent not him. I know he stiffed all of us including Gillin but at the end of the day do I blame him? I'll make fun of him but I wont blame him.

I'm just glad he's sticking around a little while longer. Sadly, we can't keep fighting the bigger paychecks forever.

Re: Doug Gillin?
IF we get invited to the AAC within the next couple of years we'll have more funding available for such things....

I wish him all the best, but Shawn Clark seems like a lazy hire. I hope you guys are right about Gillin, but I don't see it.

How so? He has P5 coaching experience and a former player. The current players love him. He’s an avid recruiter. He loves to sandpaper opponents. Did I miss something?appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 3:23 pmI wish him all the best, but Shawn Clark seems like a lazy hire. I hope you guys are right about Gillin, but I don't see it.

Re: Doug Gillin?
It appears to me that Doug had planned and set things up for Clark to be the next coach, especially since he had the title of "Associate Head Coach." Also, Doug saw the real potential for Drink to leave earlier this season and I'm sure was already conducting a confidential search of potential candidates. Sometimes the best candidate is already on staff and in today's environment with the relatively new early signing period (which is this Wednesday I believe), it's imperative to plan ahead.
I think Doug did the same thing last year because he knew Satt was leaving and I'm sure was already vetting candidates for his replacement before we heard anything.

Re: Doug Gillin?
I have no idea if he can put a staff together. I have no idea if he can manage a staff. I don't know if he can run an offense. I don't know what an O-line coach knows about defense. I think these are legitimate questions.HighPointApp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 3:39 pmHow so? He has P5 coaching experience and a former player. The current players love him. He’s an avid recruiter.
