Did Shawn sandpaper your ass back in the day? It looks like y'all were in school at the same time.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 3:23 pmI wish him all the best, but Shawn Clark seems like a lazy hire. I hope you guys are right about Gillin, but I don't see it.
When will "It's better than what we had" no longer be good enough for App State?

And I thought the "Fire Roof" talk was the dumbest thing I have ever read on this site...AppGrad is the new Champ. C'mon Man. As Neuheisel would say, "Get yourself together".
Any new Coach will make a few mistakes and will have a learning curve. But this man is ready & well prepared for the tasks at hand. Go App and Give'em Hell Shawn!!!

Re: Doug Gillin?
Quite honestly it sounds like appgrad's preferred candidate didn't get interviewed/selected so he's gonna pout instead of joining the App State party. Overall though this is about the biggest Slam dunk hire (as far as support from fans/alumni/current and former players) that I've seen, and that includes when Satt was hired. There's no crystal ball that will guarantee Clark's success, but this is a unifying hire and one that will build on our current culture.

Re: Doug Gillin?
No he is probably right. Doug should have hired another "hot commodity" offensive coordinator out there who has zero ties to App, right before the real signing day. Another guy who also believes that App is a top 25 program, won't by any means use us or refer to us as a stepping stone job. A guy who will come in, take us to the next level with what might be the best offense we have ever had, beat two more P5's...then bolt. Yep that is what Doug should have done but NO he hired some really good App guy already on the staff who is loved by players and coaches. Dumb move.

I’m sorry, I find it a bit pretentious to put the dates of my undergrad and grad school graduation by my name.

Re: Doug Gillin?
I think we should all let the Drink stuff go. App isn't a stepping stone job for everyone. Satterfield used it as a launch point, while also building a program. Drinkwitz was offered $4 million and is now jetting around the country to see recruits. Good for him. It wasn't a great fit for App, that's fine. He's 36 and seems to not have a lot of self awareness at this point in time as to how and what he says affects others. That's fine. But lets drop the feels about feeling "slighted" and move along.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 8:50 amNo he is probably right. For Ivy leaguers it's a requirement. Only to let them know how seriously to take anyone around them.

Usually, I try not to make any personal attacks on this here message board. But, in your case, I will make an exception.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 4:49 pmLazy hire from a guy who couldn't get a better job. See ya'll in NOLA.
That is the stupidest and most ignorant and dweeb-like post ever in the history of this here MMB.
What was your undergrad & graduate degree in? Underwater basketweaving?
Promoting from within is a valid, tried, and true management decision. So, I would expect to find you never darkened the doors of Walker Hall.

That’s harsh towards a fellow Mountaineer. Did you happen to be up here when Shawn was and did he win the starting job over you or steal your girlfriend?appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 3:23 pmI wish him all the best, but Shawn Clark seems like a lazy hire. Re: Doug Gillin?
I seem to recall that he may be a professor at App. I may be wrong by I recall a post some months back when he spoke of getting his doctorate and returning to App to teach. Like I said, I may be completely wrong. But, if that is the case. This could simply be the classic Academic vs. Athletic rivalry that exists in every college. I would not be surprised to see a professor upset that the AD and new coach got big contracts paying way more than the professor with a PHD that actually teaches the students at the university gets for his/her services to our great school. Like I said, I may have an incorrect memory and may be confusing posters, but if I am right than it makes sense......academics don't like athletics getting the money or the praise. If I am wrong, I am sure he will correct me.

There is also a couple of former players who are anti-anything DG does. DG doesn’t pander to them and that grinds their gears even more. Most of the relevant former players are overjoyed with this hire and really see the big picture with DG and have appreciated what he is doing.t4pizza wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2019 1:49 amI seem to recall that he may be a professor at App. I may be wrong by I recall a post some months back when he spoke of getting his doctorate and returning to App to teach.
