With Satt, everyone either went to UL or stayed in Boone. I'm thinking this time will be a mixed bag of going to Misery, staying in Boone, or going elsewhere/retiring. The highest plurality will be staying here but it will pretty evenly split between the three.

Death, taxes and UNCC obsession over App .Nugget49 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 2:42 pmYou seem a little touchy, and are clearly not here for a conversation. I guess I can understand why. Good luck keeping your assistants, getting new assistants, or whatever puts you in a happy place.appchicago wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 1:42 pmOh. Right on. Wow. Thanks for the explanation.Nugget49 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 10:16 amI am a little surprised that you guys think 3-6 current assistants would stay. That is about half the staff. Unless someone already at App gets the HC job I would have guessed they would bring in their own people. Of course there is the argument that you don't mess with what is already working, but most coaches don't seem to do that. Probably an ego thing--you have to have a pretty healthy one to become a HC.
So by that logic, 100 percent of our assistants came in with Drink, right?
let me guess, you and the braintrust over at NNN have already anointed yourselves and declared App "peaked" and on the way down
Unlike the weird cult like following developing over UNCCs shirtless messiah, App is a player led program, this has been made clear.

I don't want whoever coached the defense in the 4th quarter of the championship game.

Re: Who stays, who goes?
I am amazed at the number of people willing to give Ted Roof a pass. He is simply a bad football coach....past his time and out of touch. Nobody with his background has EVER been hired as a head coach. Well maybe in Little League.
But App Nation better hope one of two things happen:
1. Drink takes Roof to Columbia where the same mediocrity they have been experiencing continues into the future. Go Tigers!!
2. The new Mountaineer coach is a good enough judge of coaching talent that there isn't even a fleeting thought of retaining Roof on the staff.

I wish I could be bad at my job and stay employed for 30 plus years.CharleyHustle wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 4:22 pmI am amazed at the number of people willing to give Ted Roof a pass. We are 12-1 ranked #20 in the country. How in the hell can Coach Roof be blamed for anything. No matter what we do some of you are going to be critical. Hope he STAYS just to flame the complainers!!! Re: Who stays, who goes?
Clark to head coach. Retain Roof as DC for at least next year or two. Prepare Gasparato to take over as DC in 2021 or 2022. Keep Watts to recruit and go back to WRs, Find a new QB OC, get a new S&C/hype guy, will need a new special teams Coach if we can’t keep Link. Give Ware full time assistant coach position coaching RB or TEs. Keep DJ at outside LBs and see if we can get Ivey and/or Jones to return on the defensive side of the ball.
GIVE 'EM HELL APPS!

We should try and get Wilcox out of Gag St. and bring him back up the mountain.

If we can somehow bring Woody and Ivey back that would be outstanding. Our defense would be next level.

I also mentioned in another thread but, Drink is going to be play caller at Mizzou. If we offer Riley the OC play caller role, I think we can keep him.

Re: Who stays, who goes?
Roof haters are gonna hate. One of the reasons I see our defense numbers were up this year is because of the offense. Once up, Drink went conservative. Too many three and outs in the second half. Defense was on the field too much. Saturday we scored 35 points in the first half and none in the second. Defense scored our only TD.

Been thinking the same thing. I'm sure Clark has a good feel for who he could retain. You ought to think he and Riley have grown close this year. OLine and a RB coach?Boroneer10 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 8:16 pmI also mentioned in another thread but, Drink is going to be play caller at Mizzou. This isn’t going to happen unless something happens with DG. If he stays, not going to happen. If he goes to Cincy; 50/50 for Ivey, still a no on Woody.Boroneer10 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 8:14 pmIf we can somehow bring Woody and Ivey back that would be outstanding. Our defense would be next level.

Re: Who stays, who goes?
Correct. We have covered this before.... Woody is not exactly well liked around the App program.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 8:27 pmThis isn’t going to happen unless something happens with DG. Re: Who stays, who goes?
Has this thread become the defacto coaching thread.
I'm not here advocating for Ted Roof but he is only 55. Isn't his profile kind of similar to Jerry Moore's when he was hired here?
Has anyone discussed Tim Horton as a possibility. I remember reports about him interviewing for the job when Jerry Moore was moved along and reports were he interviewed really well, had a good plan, and probably finished 2nd in the interview process.

I want a 3 4 specialist. I liked the way we recruited linebackers and let them fly. A lot of fun to watch.

Re: Who stays, who goes?
This 100%. I do think Roof was the issue early on UNCC and Coastal, but he turned a corner. The last couple games were not on him but on the Offensive Playcaller and HC who went into prevent mode.ASUchipman wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 8:17 pmRoof haters are gonna hate.
