That's awesome for all those guys! They definitely earned those pay raises! I personally so proud of DJ and all that he has accomplished as a player, coach and most importantly a person. He is a great ambassador for our Institution and program. I will be keeping a close eye on his career and holding out hope for his return to the Mountain!

Here's the funny part. Clark has a base of 605k per year (425k+15k per month). Those numbers are insane.

I think Clark's salary comes out closer to $750K based on his contract, but I can't remember what the other part was for. The point is still valid though. I know you've got the base plus retention bonus.

Pretty sure it had nothing to do with being retained. He was offered a job at Army & took it. Army pretty much operates on a P5 budget. Their salary pool might not match that of a Mizzou, but it's definitely higher than App's.

Money talks, & it's an opportunity to work with the man who helped him further his career in the first place, Nate Woody.

Gas has a free will and if he chose to leave, there's not much we can do about that. I don't know if he was "being groomed" or not, other than what I've read on this board. I assume it's pretty simple. He got a better offer.

My understanding is Jones and Gaspo were going to be co-DC. However, when Gaspo's mentor called and was able to offer more $ to be a position coach, he took the opportunity. I believe if it wasn't Woody that called, Gaspo wouldn't have taken it. He's had multiple offers for more pay and stayed. It's just a different situation when your mentor calls.

Are these other P5 schools just way overboard with coaching salaries, particularly the ones who are basically .500 schools most every year or is App just really low with what we pay? Where do we rank with a coaching ROI?

The only things most P5s consistently have is $$. Larger payouts due to conference affiliations , bigger media market, and just to be honest, better financial support top to bottom than App has.
Without researching, I cannot even remember a time when Missouri was even relevant. I saw where Drinks salary pool was over $4 million, whereas Apps was just barely over $1 million.
We all need to do better with financial support of App and encourage those we know to donate who aren’t.
There is no excuse for places like ga southern to be able to out-bid us for coaches we are trying to hire from them.
