Stewart is going to Kentucky. Makes sense, he played there.

Was hoping Clark could hang on to Stewart. I thought the DL played well this past year.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 2:36 pmStewart is going to Kentucky. Makes sense, he played there.

Re: Who stays, who goes?
Back to the coaching roster web page(s]. That info is untouched since December except to delete those who've already moved on to Mizzou/somewhere else. It's a waste of time to go there until there's been a news release to announce the full staff. At this point, I don't think DG and SC are going to release the info piecemeal.
I have a hunch that this is dragging on so long because "it got messy for Caesar on the way to The Forum." It's likely that one or more coaches is juggling more than one offer and may be playing one against another. It may be that one or more new candidates have a wife and kids that have to become comfortable with a move to The High Country. Then there's the sensitive part about negotiating positions, titles and salaries under what has to be a tight salary cap that SC has been told to stay within. I don't think we can even be certain all of the interviews are over.
This process is going to take however long it takes. Our hand-wringing and floor-pacing won't change a thing about who we sign or how soon it will all be over with.

Down to just Gasparato for continuity on defensive side of the ball.

Technically true, although bringing back Jones after a one-year hiatus would probably have a similar effect,Appstate88 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 2:52 pmDown to just Gasparato for continuity on defensive side of the ball.

Re: Who stays, who goes?
2 things.
1. Pretty sure Jones is the DC based off what I'm hearing.
Hearing he's already bringing in part of his staff as well.
2. Pretty sure Gasparato is staying, as long as he still wants to be here. I could see him jumping at a DC job though if what I hear about Jones is true.

But care to elaborate on “though if what I hear about Jones is true..”?

Re: Who stays, who goes?
All I meant is that Gasparato probably has full intentions of climbing the ladder as a coach and eventually becoming a DC. Not saying he and Jones don't get along or anything. I'm saying if he were to leave....(nothing to do with Jones)....he would be leaving to become a DC, in my opinion.boonetown1 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 5:19 pmI think both are accurate.DoesntEvenGoHere wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 4:54 pm2 things.

Now...why would I go around telling everyone my sources? lolAppstate88 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 5:16 pmDoesntEvenGoHere wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 4:54 pm2 things.

Re: Who stays, who goes?
He/She is not wrong. Unless things change, and they do (listen to the Clark interview on XM), Jones is likely to be at least Co-DC.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 5:16 pmDoesntEvenGoHere wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 4:54 pm2 things.

Re: Who stays, who goes?
Why do you say that? Because of his first go at it?
You have to realize he was trying to run a traditional 3-4 with 4-3 guys. Now that he's spent time in our current 3-4, knows the best way to run it with our style of recruit (not traditional 3-4 by any means), i think it's going to be a completely different situation this time around.
This is assuming he is in fact DC/co-DC.

Re: Who stays, who goes?
Interesting take. I knew his tenure as a DC under Jerry wasn’t impressive but didn’t realize he was running 3-4.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 8:13 pmWhy do you say that? Because of his first go at it?

Serious question; if we were committing to the 3-4 as we obviously did, why wasn’t he successful or given enough time to be successful but woody was? What did woody different/better?

Re: Who stays, who goes?
We had nothing to play for when Woody was initially setting it up. Under Jones, we went from perrenial top 5 to close to unranked. The Rock wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 8:58 pmInteresting take. Jone’s as DC is a reach, a bit of a gamble, but it’s Shawn’s call to make. And make work.

Re: Who stays, who goes?
Woody wasn't immediately successful either. Much the same situation that Jones had to deal with...playing a 3-4 with players recruited to play a 4-3.The Rock wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 8:58 pmInteresting take. Re: Who stays, who goes?
A very good point and it could definitely be a better go around this time. Maybe I'm being unfairly pessimistic, but I would just hate for us to take a step back after what has been accomplished to this point. Maybe I'm getting hung up on attracting a bigger name with proven success, but I'll trust Clark on his decision either way. Truthfully, I'd feel equally as good if not better if Gas is named D.C. over Jones. Thanks for the very well stated clarification around the 3-4 versus 4-3. Hadn't really considered it prior.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 8:13 pmWhy do you say that? Because of his first go at it?

Just curious but what about Gas makes you believe that he would be better than Jones as DC?AppDub wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 9:08 pmA very good point and it could definitely be a better go around this time.
