If Shawn is passed over , does he stay? Probably yes ,if it's TR .If not I'm not certain he won't be looking at other opportunities.

TD is on the team. Had to sit out this year due to Transfer rules.mountaineerman wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 9:39 amIsn’t Roofs son on the team? I think he transferred.
Would suggest going and watching his high school highlight tape. If he was 6'2 he probably would've been a 4-star recruit.

Under the right circumstances and understandings, I could see Roof sticking around and mentoring Clark and Gas.appstatealum wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 10:45 amI came around on Roof, but I promise you, Roof was not solely responsible for the turn around. There were a couple of “field generals” that were making adjustments and new calls on the fly for this defense. Roof came around on the kids....

Clark as HC
keep Roof as DC/Assoc. HC (I think he may stay to coach his son)
Gas as Co-DC.
OC? if Clark is chosen as HC it will be interesting to see who he wants here.

I give most of the credit to the players. Even Jordan Fehr said that there were a ton of Player-only meetings for the defense after the few couple of games. We have so much NFL talent on defense that the credit should go to them.ASUchipman wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 10:17 amI’ll be the first to admit I doubted Roof at first. After the Charlotte game, I was ready to run him out of town, but the defense came around. They played lights out in both Carolina games and the first ULaLa game. The players seem to like him. He has done a commendable job this year as DC. Some people just don’t like to admit they were wrong.
Also, with how the fans treated Roof early in the year I just think it would be good to part ways. I would rather have Coach Gas or DJ Smith leading the defense.

I could easily see Shawn Clark keeping OC and playing a dual hat like other coaches have been doing. It's been successful here and frees up budget for other hires.

The Defensive players love Coach Roof. I have had the privilege to sit with several parents and they love their Coach. Last year's Defensive recruits all sing his praises. Keep Roof and in a couple of years Coach Gas can run with this Defense!!!Trock44 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 12:13 pmI give most of the credit to the players. Re: Who stays, who goes?
Missouri wants a coaching staff with SEC experience....They are not giving Drink his choices automatically.
This was one of the reasons a couple other coaches turned down the interviews.
Not worried at all

Re: Who stays, who goes?
That would concern me. Asking a guy to be both OC and HC is difficult enough, but especially when he hasn’t ever done either one at the FBS level. One time for a bowl game doesn’t count.

Oh. Right on. Wow. Thanks for the explanation.Nugget49 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 10:16 amI am a little surprised that you guys think 3-6 current assistants would stay. That is about half the staff. Unless someone already at App gets the HC job I would have guessed they would bring in their own people. Of course there is the argument that you don't mess with what is already working, but most coaches don't seem to do that. Probably an ego thing--you have to have a pretty healthy one to become a HC.
So by that logic, 100 percent of our assistants came in with Drink, right?

You seem a little touchy, and are clearly not here for a conversation. I guess I can understand why. Good luck keeping your assistants, getting new assistants, or whatever puts you in a happy place.appchicago wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 1:42 pmOh. Right on. Wow. Re: Who stays, who goes?
Ted Roof has had a lot of stops in his coaching career: 14 in 33 years (including a second stint at both Duke and Georgia Tech). Maybe, he's ready to settle down in the NC Mountains for a few years.97APP wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 11:55 amI could see this:AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 11:50 amUnder the right circumstances and understandings, I could see Roof sticking around and mentoring Clark and Gas.appstatealum wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 10:45 amI came around on Roof, but I promise you, Roof was not solely responsible for the turn around. Thanks. 21-12 against App in basketball. Congratulations on your recent win. Too bad none of your fans showed up to see it.MountaineerChemist10 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 2:50 pmGood luck beating us at SOMETHING. Re: Who stays, who goes?
I was arguably the loudest critic of Roof after the first couple games this season, but I now absolutely understand why Drinkwitz brought Roof with him, and, for the same reasons, think he would be a valuable asset to Clark and the team if Clark were to get the HC job. Maybe Clark wouldn't even want him. I don't know.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 3:10 pmTed Roof has had a lot of stops in his coaching career: 14 in 33 years (including a second stint at both Duke and Georgia Tech). Does Roof stay only to coach his son and is gone after that (doesn't his son only have 1 year left?).

The number of assistants that join Drink will be telling. If he only takes 2-3 (who will get significant raises) that will say a lot about the stability they feel they’ll get from Missouri. Most assistant coach contracts are one year.
